It is with profound sadness that Equestrian Canada (EC) and Thunderbird Show Park acknowledge the tragic vehicle accident the afternoon of Tuesday, October 6, involving members of our community traveling from Manitoba and Alberta to the EC National Dressage and Para Dressage Championships (West) in Langley, BC. We mourn the loss of three horses with the fourth having been immediately transported for veterinary treatment.

Our equestrian community functions as a close-knit family, and a sudden loss of this magnitude is felt deeply by every rider, coach, groom, and owner across the country. EC extends its heartfelt sympathies to the riders, owners, families, and the entire support team surrounding these beloved horses.

Equestrian Canada has reached out to the athletes and owners involved and has extended them mental health support through our Game Plan partnership. C’est avec une profonde tristesse que Canada Équestre (CE) et le Thunderbird Show Park ont appris le tragique accident de la route survenu dans l’après-midi du mardi 6 octobre et impliquant des membres de la communauté qui se rendaient du Manitoba et de l’Alberta aux Championnats nationaux de dressage et de paradressage (Ouest) de CE à Langley, en C.-B. Nous pleurons la perte de trois chevaux; un quatrième cheval a été immédiatement transporté pour recevoir des soins vétérinaires.

La communauté équestre canadienne est profondément unie, et une perte soudaine de cette ampleur nous touche toutes et tous. CE offre ses plus sincères condoléances aux cavalières et cavaliers, aux propriétaires, aux familles et à toutes les personnes qui entouraient ces chevaux tant aimés.

At Precision Saddle Fitting, we are incredibly proud to stand behind Erin Silo and Jett as they campaign toward Canadian team selection for the 2027 Pan American Games, with their sights continuing toward LA 2028.
