The ODSC proudly recognizes and celebrates our incredible volunteers. Behind every successful season there are dedicated volunteers working quietly in the background - often without recognition.
To every volunteer who stepped up, lent a hand, and made a difference, thank you. Your efforts do not go unnoticed

In case you were curious how much snow we got this year. 490 cm’s is 16 feet.
You may have heard the Weather Network report that Orillia’s record-breaking snowfall this season was taller than a giraffe. ⬆️🦒With over 490 cm of total snowfall, it would have also nearly buried our century-old bandshell! 🤯
Typical winters in Orillia bring an average of 280 cm, but this year’s snowfall almost doubled that and is the most snowfall ever recorded.❄️🏆
Orillia’s crews worked through it all around the clock, hauling thousands of truckloads of snow.
Thank you to everyone for their patience and support while battling the snowiest winter Orillia has seen in decades. 💛

Well folks. Thats a wrap. Our groomers were taken over to their summer storage location. We had hope that we could survive the warm spell but no such luck. While there are spots with snow, there are also lots of bare spots. With Monday being +8, the snow we get this weekend will not last.
Thank you to all our volunteers and landowners. No trails would be open without your generosity.
Even though the trails are closed, our executive continues to work on getting the outstanding landowner agreements completed so we are ready to go next fall.
Have a safe and happy summer season.

Our operators are out today/tonight cleaning up from the weekend. All of our trails have had at least 1 pass in the last couple of days. Having said that, the blade on our west side machine has malfunctioned so they could only use the drag, and while it helps, you really need the blade to cut the corners down and flatten the moguls. Tonight will probably be the last grooming night till the temperatures return to below freezing. There is still a fair amount of snow on the trails, and for now the swamps remain frozen. Road runs will not be pleasant to ssy the least. We will be turning the trails to limited till things improve. We will monitor the trails as best we can but if you notice a swamp opening up or any other hazard (outside of the moguls) please reach out and let us know. It has been a challenging year on many fronts but our club volunteers and groomer operators have stepped up and done a great job.

well it was good while it lasted but our west side groomer is down again. It is sitting on the side of the 204 at Buck lake rd (near the top). sleds can get around safely. Hopefully we can get it going again tomorrow.
***edit*** the groomer was removed off the trail and back to the shop. We still can not use the blade so the operator did what he could with the drag

If you’re looking to go for a ride this weekend. Check out the Baxter BBQ fundraiser.
Fundraising BBQ location details! You can ride C trail (on land) from North or South of the location and from the B105 or ride in on lake trail 11a. It’s just west of “The monument” on the Hungry Creek swamp. Check out the OFSC integrated trail map for a detailed route from your location We’re also bringing in a fresh Porta potti for your comfort so no worries there either. If you want to donate prizes or anything else please email [email protected]. Heck you could sponsor the “comfort station” if you wanted…lol. Let’s celebrate this “perfect” season together - hope to see you Saturday.

***trail 204 update***
if you have ridden the 204 lately you know that there is a pile of logs by the carlyon line (south end) entrance. We have been advised that the loggers will be removing those logs starting Thursday morning. The trail will remain open but we are asking sledders to be careful going through there and to give the operators space to work.
This is the statement from simcoe county forest
I just received notification from our operator that his log truck will be entering Silver Creek Tract off of Carlyon Road to pick up the wood off of the OFSC trail starting on Thursday. There are only a few loads here, so they should be done by Friday. We will put up "Danger Logging" signs on Wednesday, but I wanted to give you the heads up so you can let riders know.
The operators will clear the logs on one side first to open up a path for snowmobiles to get around the logging truck, but we ask that riders use extra caution and yield to the log truck if they can't get around immediately. The truck will only be there periodically to load up, so I'm hopeful that there will be minimal disruption to riders.
The operator will have to clear the fresh/unpacked snow up to the log pile, but they are aware that it is an OFSC trail and will not leave any snow piles that would obstruct the trail.

Quick trails update. The logging has been completed on the 204 and the trail has been restored to the original location. Crews will be out in the morning to remove the signs/stakes from the reroute. Please stay off the hydro corridor as it is private property.
Our groomer operators have been hard at work and all our trails have had at least 1 pass of the groomer in the past 36 hours.
With the warming temperatures and the long weekend, you can expect trail conditions to deteriorate. Warm temperatures may also affect our ability to groom.
Please enjoy the weekend, ride safe, watch your speed, and ride your side
As always, please refer to the ITG for trail status before you head out

We are looking for a diesel mechanic who can help us get our groomer repaired. Our regular mechanic is busy. It is a Cummins engine. fault code says "engine exhaust gas pressure. data erratic, intermittent or incorrect" i'm being advised it is probably the pressure sensor that is sooted up and not reading correctly
If anyone can help, or knows someone who is available, please let us know. We would like to get it back on the snow ASAP
Thanks
