The Orillia Academy of Karate is changing its location. As of April 8th, classes will be held at the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Hall, 99 Peter St. N., Orillia, ON L3V 4Z3.

The Orillia Academy of Karate recently had some promotions. Congratulations to Austin Hosseini-Ara , Issac Olimer, , Dexter Campbell and Grayson Cooper on earning their Yellow Belts. They all did a great job and I am very pleased with their testing. Now they will start towards their Green Belts and am sure they will respond to the challenge.

Our Fall session is coming to a close and are starting a new Winter session on January 5th and run until March 30th. Classes are held Monday and Wednesday evenings 6 - 7:30 pm at Rotary Place for 10 years old and up. Family orientated and friendly, but disciplined.

On June 22nd, 2024, the Orillia Academy of Karate participated in the 48th Annual Toronto Academy of Karate Fitness and Health Karate Tournament. With a group 10 students participating

Students took part in Kata ( forms ) and Kumite ( sparring ).The Orillia Dojo brought home 12 awards. The white belts were excellent in their very first tournament.

White Belts Audrey MacDonnell, Maximus ImBeau, Nathan Brilhante and Isaac Cuthbertson all showed well and should be proud of their results. They showed great spirit and improvement.

Toronto Academy of Karate 50th Annual Tournament Results:

The Orillia Academy of Karate traveled to Scarborough on June 24 2023 for the 50th Karate Tournament of the Toronto Academy. We had 14 students participating and came home with 26 awards, competing in Kata (patterns) and Kumite (sparring).

I am pleased and excited to announced the promotion of David Rehm to the level of Blue Belt. Congratulations David !! David will now start heading towards earning his Purple Belt. Our classes are held at the Orillia Rotary Place on Monday and Wednesday 5:30 - 7:00. Our next session will be starting in early April. You can sign up at the Parks and Recreation Sun web site. Exciting news ! We are opening up for training on Monday January 31. Classes will be Monday and Wednesday 5:30 - 7:00 at Rotary Place in the Orillia Room. Masks are mandatory. Ages from 10 and up. Register at Parks and Recreation of Orillia at Sun Registration or call Parks and Recreation at 705-325-4386. Cost is $145.00 for Orillia Residents and $181.25 for non-residents for 8 weeks. I am pleased to announce a kid's program will start Saturday Jan. 29 at the Orillia Rec. Centre. Classes are for 5 - 9 years old. Classes will help build self - confidence while improving concentration, discipline, and physical coordination in our Karate Fundamentals program!
Karate is a martial art that combines punches, kicks and defensive techniques learned while doing fundamentals , kata techniques and sparring. Uniforms are not necessary.

Classes will be taught by Black Belt Stacie Theis. She has over 20 years experience.
