Police Investigating a Suspicious Fire in Oshawa
Police are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred at a commercial premise in Oshawa last Wednesday night.
On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at approximately 8:57 p.m., members of Central East Division and Oshawa Fire Services were called to Speak Easy Boxing and Training Academy on Bloor Street West for an active fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained by responding firefighters. The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office have been advised, and conducted a parallel investigation. It is believed to be an arson based on the evidence from the scene. The damage sustained to the building is estimated to be in excess of $100,000.
Investigators believe a black Ford Transit work van was involved in the offence, and are attempting to identify the suspect(s) responsible for this incident.
Police are requesting anyone who resides in the area to check for video surveillance that they may have for any suspicious activity in relation to this incident.
