Balena Park Rink

Rink Season is officially over.

In Ottawa the outdoor rink season ends Feb 28, but we sometimes go longer at Balena if the weather cooperates. Unfortunately the weather is not cooperating.

Saturday's thaw damaged the ice pretty extensively, and with the warm temperatures coming this week it's not worth the effort required to get it going again.

The good news is that it was the longest skating season in years!

A big thank you to all the volunteers who worked hard all winter to help make this a fantastic skating season!

Rink is OPEN!

Ice is a little rough after yesterday's thaw, but not too bad!

Because of the warm weather today, the rink is closed.

PLEASE stay off of the ice to help preserve it for when the cold comes back!

Balena Rink open from 8:00am to 9:00pm daily.

Rink is OPEN and ready for skating!

After some amazing effort by volunteers, the rink is OPEN again for skating. It's a bit rough in places, but overall is pretty good.

If the weather cooperates we'll be able to get a good flood or two on there in the next couple of days to fully heal the minimal damage the thaw caused.

Rink is currently closed due to the warm weather.

Please stay off the ice surface to protect the ice.

If all goes well hopefully it will be open by the weekend.

For today anyway - forecasted warm weather may mean it gets closed tomorrow for a couple of days, so enjoy it today if you can!

There are still a few high spots, but those will get better as time goes on and more floods happen.

Fieldhouse hours will be posted on the door soon. If you would like to volunteer to help keep the fieldhouse open, please reach out!
Benches are always available outside for changing into skates.
