Hi neighbours. The community rink at Lee Boltwood has been open for almost a week niw and it had been so nice to see the skaters.

Friendly reminders for the season:

🤝 This is a volunteer run puddle rink.

💡 For evening skates, on the side of the bunker is a Green Box with a big red button to turn on the light.

☀️ On warm days, please do not skate on it as it can add more issues to rebuilding it.

❄️ When we have lots of snow, please grab your shovels and help remove snow for others.

🚫🏒 As it’s a puddle rink, the City of Ottawa has advised no hockey games as it’s too small and prevents others from leisurely skating.

Thank you to Imad who has been getting it up and running.

Please see City of Ottawa for further ODR rules:

Hi neighbours! Great news, we have done the first watering for the puddle rink. With the warmer than normal weather we haven’t been able to productively water as we need a -10C degree minimum for it to maintain.

Before we start to skate please read:

- We will notify when rink is ready to skate on.
- Please do not walk or skate or allow dogs on rink when it has just been watered.

Thank you for yournn bnb patience.

Snow Day! We have left shovels right beside the bunker for any volunteers who would like to join us for shovelling. Please do not take the shovels. These are for the rink only.

Thank you! ❄️ ⛄️

Hi there. This is a friendly reminder that we are volunteers building this rink for the community with no funding from the city. If you have a safety concern or ideas please feel free to jump in and help us. 😊

We are looking for donations of hay bails or padding to put in front of the post and the green electrical box for safety. If you know of anyone who can donate these items that would be wonderful.

*Safety reminder*: parents need to monitor their children at all times. This is solely your responsibility. Helmets should be worn at all times and mittens/gloves to protect your fingers.

Should you have any questions/ideas at all please don’t hesitate to reach out here or via messenger.

Rink is open! Again please bear with us as we don’t have a border up yet. Please be cautious at the benches as it is has ice around them.

Reminder to wear helmets and no hockey games allowed as ut is a puddle rink.

Hi everyone. We ar excited for another winter of skating! The rink isn’t quite ready yet as there is still much work to be done along with cooperation of steady cold temperatures, which we haven’t had yet. We are trying a different approach this year then last so if you’ve noticed there are no borders (yet) and the reason is because we are waiting for more snow. Once we have a bit snowfall we can then create a border with the snow itself in hopes for a smooth rink.

Bare with us as we are volunteers and there is no funding from the city this year to run it.

Anytime we have a big snowfall and would like to help simply send us a message or come join us if you see us out there.

Happy Skating!

Hey neighbours. It’s the last day for the rink so please enjoy it this evening. With the extended warm weather coming we will be removing benches and shovels tomorrow.

Thanks to those who have helped out this season!

Hey neighbours. Caution tape on the rink is to prevent people from walking on the edges as it’s destroying it. Please know the rink is open and in great condition. Happy skating! Stay warm.

01/17/2021

Rink will be great for skating today and rest of this week. Keep in mind the new limit for skating is 12 people and masks must be worn at all times.

Happy skating!

Gentle reminder that the rink is closed due to the mild weather. If anyone were to skate on it, it would puncture the plastic underneath making it very hard to repair.

We are eager to all get back to skating. Thank you for your patience.

01/12/2021

Due to the milder weather for the next couple of days the rink will be closed.

Please keep in mind that negative temperatures is what creates safe and enjoyable skating.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

NOTICE Jan 9: Rink is currently being watered so it’s perfect for tomorrow skating. Please remain off the rink this evening.

Thank you.
