Add some swashbuckling to your summer with our new Battle School workshop for kids! For kids ages 8 to 15, this one hour workshop will be held Saturday July 15 at 11 am. This one-hour version of our Battle School course focuses on battle techniques for sword and shield using foam weapons. Registration is open now!

We're very excited to announce a special event coming up in October: Introduction to Lightsaber! We wanted to put on something fun and different, and we hope you will join us to learn some practical and theatrical lightsaber fighting basics. Plus, each participant will take home a lightsaber that is built for fighting with, and has customizable colour and sounds.

There are two dates available: Saturday October 1 at 3 pm and Friday October 28 ​at 7 pm. These events are open to everyone ages 12 and up. Costumes are welcome, so feel free to bring out your inner Jedi or Sith. The galaxy may be vast, but space in these events is limited, so sign up today!

Back to Battle School! Our Young Knights and Warrior Princesses class for students age 8 to 15 has finally returned!

Battle School is a twelve week program, running on Saturdays at 10:45 to 11:30 am from September 17 through December 10 (no class on Thanksgiving weekend). This program focuses on battle techniques for sword and shield using foam weapons. Each class will include warm-up games, weapon training, and battle games. The emphasis is on getting active and having fun more than on martial training. All equipment is provided, but students must bring clean indoor shoes and wear a cloth or medical mask.

You don't need to be an Ottawa Swordplay member to sign up a Battle School student, just select the non-member rate that fits your budget (Standard, Generous, or Subsidized) from the registration page. If you are a member, select the Member rate for a discounted fee. New students may join at any time and will be charged for the remainder of the course at a pro-rated price.
