Building strength, stability, flexibility and control with Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) — supporting our dancers to develop the strength they need for their ballet technique.

We’re hiring! 🩰

Ottawa Dance Centre School has an unexpected opening for an experienced Primary Ballet Teacher to join our faculty as soon as possible.

Saturday mornings:

8:15–8:45 a.m. — Parent & Tot Dance
9:00–9:45 a.m. — Pre-Ballet, ages 3–4
9:45–10:30 a.m. — Pre-Primary Ballet, ages 5–6
10:30–11:30 a.m. — Grade 1 Ballet, ages 7–9

We’re looking for someone warm, energetic and creative who genuinely loves teaching young dancers. Previous experience teaching ballet to children within these age groups is essential.

There may also be opportunities for additional teaching hours on Sunday mornings.

✨ A week of firsts at ODCS ✨

Today, I took this photo of our brand-new Junior Contemporary class. This is the first year we’ve offered Junior Contemporary at ODCS, and for every dancer in this photo, today was their very first contemporary class.

And it got me thinking about how special the first week of a new dance season really is. Our dance studio is full of firsts this week, some that feel huge, some that might seem small, and some that we may not even realize are milestones until we look back on them.

🩰 The first time putting on ballet shoes.
✨ The first plié.
🤍 The first dance class without a parent.
🎶 The first adult dance class.
🩰 The first time dancing en pointe.
✨ The first class with a new group.
🤍 The first time walking through the doors of ODCS.
🩰 The first time realizing… we’re the seniors of the school now!

No matter how long you’ve been dancing, every single person who walks into our studios this week will do something for the first time. And that means every single person has something to be proud of.

As a teacher and director, I feel incredibly honoured that so many of these moments, these little beginnings that can become big memories, are going to happen at ODCS. 🤍

So please, share your achievements and your firsts with us this week. Whether it feels big or small, we want to celebrate it with you.
