Tack Exchange Sept. 13, 2026 in benefit of the
Oxford Downs Pony Club and SCF XC Jump Fund.
Once again we plan to run the tack sale and exchange at our next horse trial on September 13, 2026. We want to thank everyone so much for donating to the sale in July. We raised a one day record of $500 in July. Funds collected go to the Oxford Downs Pony Club to help with the costs associated with testing and our XC jump fund.

People can donate new or used items for the sale.
Anything to do with horses or farm chores.
Please, only clean items in good shape(no rips or broken items)

You may drop off anytime at the farm.
On arrival please check in with the staff in the stable.
If it is after hours(later than 4:30) come to the farm house.

We are proud to announce that only a few weeks ago Stevens Creek Pony Clubbers Chloe Elliott and Bethany Clark passed their C2 test. Sophie Ryan passed her stable management.
Way to go girls.

Shots from the last Cherrylane Horse Trial-Aug.22, 2026.
Cherrylane is a jewel of a horse trial. I have to say this is one of my favourite one day sites in North America. There is the old fashioned hospitality you used to get eventing 30 years ago. Firstly, you get there for an overnight and the stabling is beautiful and close to everything. Secondly, you can park your very big trailer very close to the stable and thirdly all three phases are centrally located. Important for my old bones. Not to mention it is a gorgeous farm with great terrain variety and gorgeous rolling hay fields of alfalfa and clover this time of year with tree lines and an old growth maple forest. One of my favourite features are the warm up spaces which are better than most. I like the big grass stadium. It is a fabulous training ground for better things. I had a student and horse upgrade to their first EV100 and the course was fair and up to grade with everything including: water, two corners, two banks including a big drop, angled cabins and an authentic coffin. They went clear.

We are so happy to offer our facilities for cross country schooling. Here is a group of 8 horses who came all the way from the Montreal area today to school xc. Earlier this week we had 15 riders from the same stable come to school over a two day period. This year we have also had horses from as far away as New Brunswick to the east, New York State to the south, Val d’Or, Quebec to the north and Whitby, Ontario to the west. Thank God the footing on most of the farm is holding up with Ottawa’s record rain.

Ottawa Area Eventing Update-August 28, 2026
Dear Followers,
Many of you may be aware of a clinic with Jessica Phoenix at Wesley Clover Parks that has been organized by the High Performance Committee on the two days following our horse trial on September 13th. On Juy 22, when I was first apprised of this clinic, through email and social media, I wrote a note to the associated parties asking them to change the date because I felt it would conflict directly with our horse trial. Most riders will have to choose between Stevens Creek Horse Trial and the High Performance Clinic. Emily Gilbert replied to me August 25th, five weeks after my initial request, and I was told they cannot change the clinic dates. I am very sad about this. Firstly I have a personal reason in that many of my students would like to attend this clinic but they will not be able to attend the clinic after going in our horse trial because it is asking a horse too much to compete at our horse trial and then jump two days in a clinic. Secondly, I am sad because we were not consulted by any of the parties about scheduling this clinic so close to our horse trials. The burgeoning costs of running a horse trial are threatening the private event organizers and every entry is important and vital to our survival. Scheduling proximate conflicting Equestrian Canada endorsed clinics is not supportive to our cause. I look forward to a day when Equestrian Canada, Wesley Clover Parks and the High Performance Committee can work collaboratively with the horse trial organizers to maximize all event participation.

Fall Recreational Session 2026
The start of the fall session is 4 weeks away on September 14 the day after our next national Horse Trial on Sept.13th.
We are very sorry to announce that due to a sudden loss of school horses enrollment will be limited. Please DO NOT pay for your fall session until we see if we can fit you in. You will be contacted to confirm we have a spot and if we need payment from you.

Momo Laframboise XC Day is going fabulously. Amazingly the footing is great. A little soft but the horses seem to like it.
