🥋 A Special Promotion Last Night at Silver 7 BJJ 🥋

Last night was a really meaningful moment for our team as Anna finally received her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blue Belt.

Anna has been a long-time member of our academy and part of the Silver 7 family for many years. At one point she stepped away to continue her studies abroad, which was the right move for her life and education, but the wrong timing for her BJJ journey… because she was incredibly close to earning her Blue Belt.

That’s the thing about Jiu-Jitsu and life, sometimes the path takes a few unexpected turns.

The great news is that Anna is back on the mats, and we had the absolute pleasure of recognizing all the hard work, perseverance, and dedication she put in over the years by promoting her to Blue Belt.

Moments like this remind us that belts aren’t just about time on the mat, they represent commitment, resilience, and coming back stronger.

Anna, we are incredibly proud of you.

With full hearts and tremendous pride, Delphie and I had the profound honour of promoting **our long-time student, teammate, friend, and partner, Phil Page, to the esteemed rank of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt.

This is a moment we will remember for the rest of our lives.
Our first ever Black Belt promoted under Silver 7 Martial Arts and the Marcelo Garcia Association. The weight of this achievement, the years, the sweat, the setbacks, the victories, is immense and meaningful beyond words.

Phil is the kind of martial artist every coach dreams of.
The kind who shows up early, stays late, studies, drills, teaches, and lifts others up along the way.
The kind who never quit, even when it was hard.
Especially when it was hard.

Because a Black Belt is a White Belt who never quit.
Phil, you lived that phrase.

He embodies what Jiu-Jitsu really is:

Three years ago this November, something truly special happened in the heart of Manhattan.

At Marcelo Garcia’s World Headquarters, Chris and Delphie were awarded their Black Belts by the legend himself. And for anyone who understands Jiu-Jitsu, you know just how massive that accomplishment is.

Becoming a Marcelo Garcia Black Belt isn’t ordinary, it’s rare, it’s earned, and it represents one of the highest levels of trust and recognition in the entire Jiu-Jitsu world. Marcelo doesn’t just promote skill… he promotes character, discipline, humility, and heart.
To receive that belt from him means you’ve lived those values on and off the mats.

Chris and Delphie have done exactly that.

This wasn’t just a belt.
It was the culmination of years of dedication, sacrifice, perseverance, and relentless growth.
It was a milestone that only a select few around the world ever reach.

A huge shoutout to Coach Phil for his incredible performance at the Ontario No-Gi Championship a few weeks ago! His first match was an absolute war against a seasoned Black Belt competitor, and Phil rose to the moment, digging deep and securing the submission victory! 👊🔥

He battled through a tough division and brought home a well-earned 3rd place finish. 🥉
