Dear bikers and friends,
It has come to our knowledge that bicycle theft has dramatically increased on campus. Here are some TIPS that you could use to avoid being a victim of theft.
- Lock your bike with a U-lock (Most bikes taken were secured with a cable lock and can be cut easily with the right tool)
- Lock your bike in a secure bike compound on campus (See Parking Services for information. A small cost is required)
- Remove your bike seat when leaving it locked up.
- Remove your front tire and take it with you if possible.
- Register your bike with the serial number located under the frame of the bike. (Serial numbers assist when looking for a stolen bike)
According to the Carleton Campus Safety Department, The majority of the bikes that are reported stolen on campus are high-end road or mountain bikes.
If you become a victim of bike theft please report it to the CARLETON SAFETY DEPARTMENT as soon as possible. Their office is open 24/7 located in 203 Robertson Hall or call the department at 613-520-3612.
Weather looks nice for tomorrow! Be prepared to have fun :)
Be sure to check out our event for this Sunday the 9th!! We will send an email with details soon π΄ββοΈ
