Theft alert. We had a power cart stolen this morning around 5am. The thieves are driving a black pick up truck with the cart in the back. The cart is blue. Not a common color for a power cart. If anyone has any information please call the golf course 613.746.4301.

Year End Corporate Golf Tournament

Our year end tournament will be held at Pine View on Sunday September 28th. The tournament will be a shotgun start beginning at 12:00 am. The cost, which includes round of golf, supper, and prize will be $85.00. Registration for the tournament begins Monday September 15th beginning at 7:00 am. The tournament will be open to guests of Corporate Golf members, as well.

It’s that time of year again when courses are busy with fall maintenance – top dressing of greens, aeration of fairways, etc. Please make sure to inquire with the course about maintenance schedules when booking to avoid any disappointment.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Val Shpak who aced the 157 yard, 4th hole at Champlain using a 6 iron to hit a power draw. This is Val's 5th career hole-in-one! His first was at Champlain back in 1978. Val was good enough to repay his good fortune by buying a round of beer. Actually I'd prefer it if Val just bought me a lottery ticket.
Congratulations to Andre Tasse who aced the 156 yard, 6th hole on the Island Course at Pakenham. This was Andre's first hole-in-one after 17 years of playing golf. Andre used a 9 wood to hit a one hopper into the hole. Ray St.Pierre, Andre's playing partner, said he was glad he was there to witness the shot as this is the first time Andre has bought a round of drinks in years.

Once a player has mastered the grip and stance, all he has to bear in mind, in the brief two-second interval it takes to swing, is to keep his left elbow pointed in toward the lefty hip and his right arm loose and closer to the body than the left and take the club head past his right knee and then break the wrists at just the right instant while the left arm is still traveling straight back from the ball and the right arm stays glued to the body and the hips come around in a perfect circle and meanwhile everything is mucked up unless the weight is 60 percent on the left foot and 40 percent on the right - not an ounce more or less - and at just the right point in the turn the left knee bends in toward the right in a dragging motion until the left heel comes off the ground but not too far and be sure the hands are over the right foot but not on the toe more than the heel except that the left side of the right foot is tilted off the ground - but not too far - and be sure the hands at the top of the swing are high and the shaft points along a line parallel with the ground and if it is a downhill lie the shaft is supposed to be pointed downhill too and pause at the top of the swing and count one, jerk the left arm straight down like a bell ringer yanking a belfry rope and don't un-cock the wrists too soon and pull the left hip around in a circle but don't let the shoulders turn with the hips - they have to be facing the hole and now transfer the weight 60 percent to the right foot and 40 percent to the left -not an once more or less and tilt the left foot and 40 percent to the right - not an ounce more of less - and tilt the left foot now so the right side of it is straight (that's the one you hit against) watch out for the left hand, it's supposed to be extended, but not too stiff or the shot won't go anywhere and don't let it get loose or you will hook, then let the wrists un-cock but don't force them or you'll smother the shot and don't break too soon but keep your head down and hit the ball!

Corporate Golf and The Grace Manor

This year Corporate Golf is a sponsor of the Grace Manor Charity Golf Tournament. The Grace Manor is a long-term care facility managed by the Salvation Army. All proceeds go directly to resident care.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Jason Lambert who after a mere 15 years of playing golf shot a hole-in-one. It wasn't on a Corporate Golf course but we thought we should mention it anyways. Jason aced hole number 3 at the Meadows North Course on Friday July 4th. Jason was playing with his wife and it was a good thing too, otherwise she would never have believed him. Jason used a 9 iron on the 130 yard hole hitting a little one-hopper into the cup. Jason is also looking forward to buying all his friends a beer to help celebrate his ace.

Golf Tournament

On August 25, the Ottawa Chapter of the MS Society of Canada will be holding a golf tournament at Loch March. In addition to the usual prizes, lunch and dinner, this tournament has one unique feature. All participants will be provided with a kilt, that they have to wear while playing. The cost of the tournament is $75 per player with a minimum charitable donation of $250. On a golf tour in Ireland, Tiger Woods drives his Mercedes into a petrol station in a remote part of the Irish countryside. The pump attendant who knows absolutely nothing about golf, greets him in a typical Irish manner completely unaware of who the golfing pro is.
"Top of the mornin' to yer, sir," says the attendant.
Tiger nods a quick "hello" and bends forward to pick up the nozzle. As he does so, two tees fall out of his shirt pocket onto the ground.
"What are those?"asks the attendant.
"They're called tees," replies Tiger.
"Well, what on this God's earth are dey for?" inquires the Irishman.
"They're for resting my balls on when I'm driving," says Tiger.

Congratulations to Randall Pearse who recorded his second hole- in-one on Monday June 9th at the Gatineau Golf Club. Randall's ace was witnessed by 3 other Corporate Golf members, Tom McCarter, Bill Jones and Dan Mullin. Randall used his Taylormade 3 wood to hit a baby fade onto the 180 yard 10th hole. Randall's previous hole-in-one was in May of 2007 at Madawaska. Randall might also want to invest in a lottery ticket.

Hole in One
Congratulations to Ray Seguin who got his first hole-in-one after playing golf for 55 years. Ray aced the par 3, 188 yard hole number 5 at Cedarhill. Ray used a 5 wood to fly the trap and go directly at the hole. Ray and his playing buddies only discovered the result after walking up to the green. Ray can still be heard celebrating in Greely today.

Richmond Centennial Golf Course

For the remainder of the 2013 season we have added Richmond Centennial Golf Course to the program. The fee will be $17.00 (HST included). Richmond Centennial Golf Course is located in Richmond and features two distinct nines. The front nine features a traditional layout while the back nine is a challenging par 3 and 4 course that follows the Jock River. Get out and play it and let us know what you think.

Corporate Golf Tournament at Dragonfly

Our third tournament for the year will be held at Dragonfly on Saturday September 21st. The tournament will be a shotgun start beginning at 11:00 AM. The cost, which includes round of golf, supper, and prize will be $60.00. The use of a power cart is optional. Should you wish to use a cart, you will need to reserve in advance for your group at the proshop. Registration for the tournament begins Monday September 2nd beginning at 7:00 AM.
