Yesterday, our team at the Canada Games Council had the pleasure of learning more about our government in Ottawa. 🇨🇦🏛️

It was an honour to be welcomed by and to gain a behind-the-scenes look at Canada’s parliamentary system. Thank you to Senator Deacon for her time and for such a meaningful experience.

As an organization that works closely with federal, provincial, and territorial partners, moments like this reinforce our role within the Canadian sport system. The Canada Games continue to support the development of young athletes and bring communities together through sport, reflecting FPT collaboration in action.

As Village Leads at the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s, Debbie and Dave Shortall were part of what made the athlete experience so memorable. Their efforts were recognized with the Paul Flaherty Volunteer Appreciation Award. 🏆

“Being a part of the Games Services Committee was a two-year commitment for us, and I don’t regret one second of that time,” Dave said. “The members of the committee started out as mostly strangers to me, and now, without exception, they are friends.”
