A few thoughts on early season swimming in cooler open water (around 17°C ) It’s very different from pool swimming! .The biggest challenges are cold shock, breathing control, and maintaining good technique as you cool down.
Before You Enter
* Warm up on shore with light movement (arm circles, walking, etc)
* Put your face in the water gradually if possible.
* Don’t sprint at the start. Cold water can cause rapid breathing for the first minute or two.
The First 2–5 Minutes
* Focus on long, controlled exhalations.
* Expect your breathing to feel faster initially.
* Start at an easy pace until your breathing settles.
Technique Adjustments
* Shorten your stroke slightly if your shoulders feel stiff.
* Increase stroke rate a little rather than trying to glide excessively.
* Sight more often than in a pool to stay on course.

A very chilly start to Open Water season! Water temp around 14C which isn’t our favourite! We had some hardy souls come out this morning - and happy to report a much warmer week ahead!

People are drawn to Masters Swimming for so many reasons! Many of our swimmers now redefine the way they quantify success (when they were younger they chased rankings and times )
Now they definitely value:
* consistency
* health
* resilience
* enjoyment
* longevity
* community
* exploration
That shift can make swimming sustainable for life instead of only for a competitive window.❤️ 💯

Why are people drawn to Masters swimming? First in a series 😊 We have found that community becomes more important.
Our people value:
* camaraderie
* consistency
* shared discipline
* mutual encouragement
At Technosport we have:
* former elite swimmers
* triathletes
* beginners
* recovering athletes
* people returning after decades away
All training together!
It’s truly wonderful💯

Woo hoo! NATIONAL CHAMPS again! First place 🥇
So proud of our swimmers! Windsor was awesome!
We took the mid-size team category by storm! Teams are allotted a category depending on number of registered annual swimmers. Thanks to Coach Bill for holding it down - and of course to all who swam their hearts out🥇
