What is Pekiti Tirsia?

One can research online and get a good number of information already, some stating it being a complete Martial System based on Blades. Others will say it Specializes in particular in Close-quarter tactics, etc. It will also have Martial Arts luminaries like Tuhon “G**o Dan” Inosanto stating its *** sophistication and lethality under its primary proponent (The Source) Grandtuhon Leo T. Gaje Jr.

Also, Pekiti Tirsia being a definitive training option for special operation units in the Military, Law Enforcement and Security circles around the globe... and so on and so forth.

We at PTKATIPUNAN, would like to share insights based on our collective experience and understanding of Pekiti Tirsia as a (1) living cultural legacy and as (2) an all around Fighting System.

Pekiti Tirsia as taught by GTS, starts by understanding the Philosophy behind it, as this is the key that ties everything.

Believing in Life, not in Death
Believing in Good Health, not in Sickness and
Believing in Success, not in failure.

When taken to heart, this is a powerful affirmation on Living in all its aspects, not just in a Martial sense.

Of the multitude of Martial Arts styles and systems globally, and the various FMA derivatives past and present, most are labeled or named under as ; (a.)an Animal, (b.)a gesture or a body part/s, (c.)a sacred place or a busy street, (d.)a Master’s name or an inspired group ideal. As such, much respect is extended to all of them.

However in retrospect, Pekiti Tirsia as taught is based on a clear concept, specifically defined as a Stratagem, layered with tactics via techniques accumulated, developed and tested through the years.

The system has evolved into more than its initial base of The 12 Methodos comprising of 12 subsystems that link one chain of understanding to another. While expanding further studies with Contradas and Recontras came into fore. The emergence of Tri-V Formula as presented became the roots where the subsystems stand in relation to its Functionality, Operability and eventual Non-Counterabilty. With the coined acronyms like C.O.M.B.A.T. (Counter in motion before attack time) lay the groundwork for training platforms and frameworks like the Seguidas, Sabayan and Pasada to name a few.

To this day, The Grandtuhon continues to share other subsystems into the fold. Mirrored understandings of Bisecting Lines in relation with Capsula Methodica subsystem followed. Contra-Tirsia Dubla Dos, Lima-Lima and Pekadum Trigo opened our eyes on the richness of the depth and genius of The Source.

Now, Done in progression and the guidance of Logic and Intent. Much of which is shared by the Grandtuhon, not in the usual “western” flavor of word association, more so by awareness, observation and adaptation using the proverbial Thought Provoking Process. This is the Creative space where A Tuhon/ Mandala/ Agalon as G**o* ( teacher) plays a vital part in molding and sharpening the Yakan** (learner) in mind, body and spirit. As in all things, a mentor can only show the way, it is the student’s ultimate Choice to take courage where to go, hence when in doubt... Dynamically Move, and explore the movement.

Oftentimes, the permutations seems endless. Hence, our Intentions must be clear. This is where ones Integrity will be tested in more ways than one. As PTKatipunan, we are truly grateful.

The System’s relevance, has proven itself in addressing certain skillsets needed to best equip the Filipino Fighting Men and Women in the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement agencies alike. Thus, the adherence towards GTS’ vision to come back and share Pekiti Tirsia to those who matter in the Motherland (the Nation’s Protectors and Guardians). Now, with PTK Astacom (as the lead agency under his guidance) already crossed borders and continents to share this Gem of a Treasure we now call Pekiti Tirsia.

Lastly, as we strive to learn all attributes of the System namely, Power towards Precision, Accuracy in Speed with Timing. We walk the path with much Respect as we Care for one another. Such Concern reflects not just a Filipino trait of Hospitality but a more sincere gesture on how the system should be passed towards a better Humanity.
