Did you know that the way we move (or don’t move) is often shaped by more than just our physical body?

Maybe it’s that persistent tightness in your chest or tension in your shoulders that just won’t go away, no matter how much you stretch. That’s where our holistic approach makes all the difference.

At FP Ottawa, we help you connect the dots between your emotional and physical self. By understanding how your body has stored these experiences, you can start to release pain, break through those movement restrictions, and rediscover the ease and strength you were meant to feel.

We believe healing happens when your mind and body are truly in sync. That’s why we offer a trauma-informed, supportive space where you can explore these connections, free yourself from old limitations, and step into your power with confidence.

It’s not just about fitness - it’s about feeling like yourself again, maybe even better than you ever have. Let’s start this journey together. 💪

Helin’s pain levels went from a 7/10 to a 0/10 after working with HSB4 Linda Lamouroux at
Functional Patterns Ottawa 💪

Helin Burkay is a 43-year-old woman who has had physical challenges most of her life. A bike accident versus a car left her with an external dislocation of her left ankle in 2018. After giving birth 4 years ago she had many additional challenges.

Before September 2022 - 7/10 Pain

❌ lower back pain
❌ thoracic spine rigidity and kypholordosis
❌ shin, joint and hip pain
❌ joint instability and postural weakness
❌ pelvic floor issues
❌ lower body shift

After May 2024 - 0/10 Pain

✅ zero low back pain
✅ kypholordosis/spine rigidity greatly improved
✅ zero shin, joint and hip pain
✅ joint stability greatly improved
✅ upper and lower body in alignment
✅ knee valgus greatly improved

Helin had seen physiotherapists, chiropractors, RMTs, and others, but had no improvement or understanding of her condition. She always wanted to try various sports but couldn’t maintain joint stability, often injuring herself or tripping while running. She’d feel better
after lifting weights but couldn’t stabilize her joints enough to lift heavy things like her bike or carry her son up the stairs without discomfort.

After researching, she realized she was hypermobile. She discovered Functional Patterns on Instagram and committed to one-on-one training with HBS4 practitioner Linda Lamouroux. Her physical improvements are clear in her Results photos, but the joy and emotional relief from being able to carry herself strongly in the world has been life- changing.

Helin was able to ice skate again, noticing a profound difference in her muscle and joint strength. She often texted about her newfound abilities—carrying her son up the stairs, lifting and hanging his bike on the garage wall, and running to catch a bus easily. In winter 2023, she took up cross-country skiing, and this past summer, rowed skulls on the Ottawa River. Helin’s warrior spirit helped her meet every challenge with grace and fortitude.

Thank you for another amazing experience. And our incredible FP family. Repost Vector training course was surreal.

I hate when you guys make me cry. Seriously…

I just think of all the disappointments that people have as they get older with the world, and feel the pressure to not be one. When I see people legit enjoying what I’ve worked on and that I wasn’t a let down, it just hits me to the core.

I’m so proud of all of you and appreciate how ham you all go. This doesn’t feel real and if it turns out it never was, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest.

As much of a pain in the ass my life has been, it would be hard to convince me that anyone is luckier than me too. I want to spread that luck.

Let’s keep going my people!

HBS4 was quite the ride. Really looking forward to seeing the changes that come from what we covered in this course.

Most everyone here has been in FP for almost 10 years. Damn, I’m lucky to have people like this in my life. To everyone who came, just know my commitment to making you all better is top priority.

This is quite the simulation!

Kimberley-Ann Renaud started working with FP HBS3 Linda Lamouroux at Functional Patterns Ottawa April 2022.  She has done 45 x 1.5-hour sessions to date of these photos. Kimberley-Ann lives 2 hours away, so generally drives 4 hours to and from Ottawa each Sunday for her sessions. We started doing half of her sessions virtually a few months ago.

Kimberley-Ann has Marfan Syndrome which is a genetic condition that affects connective tissue and collagen production, which provides support for the body and organs. It can damage the blood vessels, heart, and the bones of the hips, spine, feet, and rib cage.

Characteristics of Marfan for Kimberley-Ann are:
* Tall and slender build. Takes a big effort to gain muscle mass
* Disproportionately long arms, legs and fingers. Short torso
* An S-curve scoliosis with spinal rotation (first noticed at 8-years old. Had Boston brace from 11-13 years)
* Her descending Aorta dissected at week 31 of pregnancy (8 years ago)
* Hypermobile shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees

History:
* Taught yoga in 2013
* Bike accident 2013 - broke left humerus – 2 surgeries to repair.  Two hairline fractures of pelvis – one on each side.
* Fell from a ski lift 2021 – strained abdominal muscles
* C-section due to aortic dissection 2015

Previous issues include:
❌ Serious back pain all the time
❌ Pain on right side
❌QL’s often in pain, Hamstrings tight
❌ Hips fell out of alignment regularly
❌ Scapular dyskinesis made worse by hypermobility and spinal curve / rotation
❌ Weak core and challenge with building muscle anywhere on her body
❌ Prone to injuries

Corrections after starting FP:
✅ No more back pain or other pain
✅ Hips no longer fall out of alignment
✅ Scapular dyskinesis, hypermobility and spinal curve / rotation greatly improved
✅ she is now strong, and hypermobility is no longer causing her issues
✅ No longer prone to injury
