It's Sunday, meaning it's time for a new scenario!

Today's question is:
The third suggests that they are one shot down. The Skip walks to the head and informs the third he will declare the bowl. Looking again at the head, decides to play it. The opposing Skip objects stating the bowl has been declared and cannot be played. The Umpires is called for a decision.

Stay tuned for the answer which will be revealed on Sunday next week!

En regardant à nouveau la « tête », il décide de la jouer. Le capitaine de l’équipe adverse s’objecte, affirmant que la boule a été déclarée et qu’elle ne peut pas être jouée. L’arbitre est appelé pour trancher.

Pat & Joanna have had quite the season - representing Canada at both the World Indoors and now Champ of Champs - massive congrats to you both!!

BCB is happy to share the offering the Canadian & Women in Sport virtual workshop on Retaining Girls in Sport and Physical activity, free of cost to the lawn bowling community at three different dates.

1️⃣ November 5th at 8:00 pm EST
2️⃣ November 17th at 7:00 pm EST
3️⃣ Spring 2027 - date to be confirmed soon!

The workshop is open for all! It will be geared for individuals who are involved in club leadership, sport programming, volunteers, coaches, and more that are looking to grow the sport and strengthen experiences of women and girls in lawn bowling!

BCB is happy to announce it will be running an in-person Competition Coach Workshop October 24-25 in Brampton, ON. This 2-day workshop will run from 9am - 5pm both Saturday and Sunday.

The workshop will take place at:

This course is geared towards folks who want to coach at the Competition-Introduction level (i.e. those looking to coach bowlers attending provincial competitions). Please visit our coaching page for more details on coach pathways (https://bowlscanada.com/en/programs-resources/coaching/)

The workshop costs $250 per participant, which includes all workshop fees, materials, light refreshments and lunch for both days. Coaches are encouraged to visit their provincial coaching website to see if there is funding available for individual coaches to attend.

The broadcast schedule is set for Barham!

The 2026 World Bowls Champion of Champions gets underway tomorrow, with live matches across five days as national champions from around the world compete for the men’s and women’s titles.

There are plenty of match-ups to watch across the week, including former World Champion of Champions winner Anne Nunes, New Zealand national champion Mandy Boyd, reigning Asian singles champion Putul Sonowal, Commonwealth Games silver medallist Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple, and 2014 Champion of Champions winner Iain McLean.

The action starts Tuesday at 9:00am AEDT, with Daphne Arthur-Almond taking on Stef Branfield in the women’s singles.

Are you ready to find out what the correct answer is to last week's scenario?!

The scenario was: The Skip of team ‘B’ plays a running drive shot. As a result, the team is now laying two shots with one bowl touching the ‘jack’. Examining the head the second on team ‘A’ realises the last bowl played was their team’s bowl. As the wrong bowl had been played the Umpire is called. What action should be taken by the Umpire?

The correct answer is: Playing another player’s bowl.
If a player plays another player’s bowl instead of their own, the other player’s bowl must be replaced with the player’s own bowl. Law 29.2.1
If the bowl which was replaced was marked or nominated as a toucher, the player’s own bowl must be marked or nominated as a toucher. Law 29.2.2
