I wonder if there's confusion between noise cancelling and white noise. Listening to white noise creates neural noise in the brain, making it harder to focus on speech. Check out "Of Sound Mind" by Nina Kraus, she talks about this in her (really interesting) book!

If your child is between 8-12 years old, has been identified with auditory skill deficits (APD), is right-handed and does not have a diagnosis of ADHD, please contact Zoey to participate in her study at the university. The child will receive a gift, a snack and $25 for their 2.5 to 3.5 hour participation.
