Building the Right Team ππ
Coaches may not always pick who you think are the best players or goalies β because their job is to build their team, not an all-star list.
Team selection is about fit. Itβs about creating the right mix of:
β’ Left & right shots
β’ Offensive & defensive players
β’ Speed, grit, and creativity
β’ Steady, dependable athletes
β’ Strong, agile goalies
It also means considering work ethic, physicality, coachability, and how a player is developing over time.
Competitive teams spend 3β6 days a week together β which makes chemistry, attitude, and commitment essential both on and off the ice.
And yes β parent behaviour and support matter too. A positive environment starts with everyone.
Together, we build stronger teams. π«

The Ottawa Girls Hockey Association is considering adding two new competitive teams (U13B/C and U11B/C) for upcoming tryouts. Strong early registration has put both teams close to confirmation, with final decisions depending on registration numbers at the start of tryouts. Families interested in competitive play are encouraged to register soon to help secure these opportunities.

π’ U18C TEAM STATUS UPDATE π’
The U18C competitive girls have had an eventful few days in the last week. They bounced back from a tough playoff loss last week to earn a silver medal π₯ at the Stittsville tournament last weekend! They played well all weekend and had a super exciting semi-final game against Kemptville that was decided in a shoutout. They ultimately lost in the Final to a very strong Markdale team. ππ₯
The very next day, they continued their playdowns and earned a spot in the Provincial Championships, following their shutout win. Congratulations girls, your coaches and families are very proud of your hard work!

Our U13B competitve team took home silver in the Stittsville Rockets Fight Cancer tournament this past weekend.
Their hard work, determination and resilience was on display throughout the entire tournament. It took shootouts to determine they would go to the finals, and another shootout, this time by 8 players, to determine a winner. Hard fought battle this weekend, and we could not be more proud!
