Corkery Community Outdoor Rink

Well, it's been two weeks since the rink had ice on it so it's finally time to update the profile pic. Another great season made possible by our fantastic volunteers including Curtis D, the Dougs, Darcy B, Paul B, Pervez C, Adam C, Mike B. Thanks lads and thanks to everyone else that grabbed a shovel and moved some snow.

If you're ever at a Sens game, keep an eye on the opening video montage - the Corkery ODR is featured!!

The ice is in great shape! Get out there!

After a heavy scrape a flood is going down now. Please stay off the ice until at least 2:30pm to give it time to set. Will likely change the profile pic at that time to the green logo - meaning the ice is in good shape!!

We are very optimistic that the rink should be up and running again very soon, hopefully tomorrow. In the meantime here is a reminder of the public skating times (no pucks allowed).

Ok folks, we're opening the rink to skaters. The ice is rough, the edges aren't in great shape but we think it's skateable! It'll likely take a couple of days after tonight's rain and freezing rain to bring it back, so get out there and enjoy it while you can!

Hi folks, just a reminder that the rink is NOT OPEN. The snow has been left on the surface intentionally so we can rebuild the base with it. Please ask your friends who aren't on Facebook to be patient and leave it be until you get the go ahead from this page. If you would like to help, please send a DM to Corkery Rink so we can coordinate efforts. Thank you!!

If you love something, let it ...melt? If it loves you too, it'll refreeze better than before!

First stage complete!

Well, if you hadn't guessed it already, last weekend we decided to call it for the 2025 season. You can still skate laps at the rink right now, but with the rain coming (almost an inch!) later this week, the remaining ice will be toast.
What an easy season this almost wasn't! Big thanks to Councillor Kelly for getting the utilities hooked up from the Fire Hall on very short notice so we could put the ice in. Hopefully we'll be running it from our own brand new community centre next year!
This year the conditions for making ice could not have been better but it would not have happened without our excellent volunteers. Huge thanks to the fantastic Corkery ODR Crew: Darcy Byrtus, Paul Bliss, the Dougs (Twining and Howie), the Duhn bros (Cameron and Curtis), Pervez Canteenwalla, Mike Beilby, Adam Colley, and Keith Charlebois.
Every little bit of effort you put into your community - even if it is just an hour a week shovelling snow off the rink - makes it better for the rest of us.
See yas next year!
Andrew

Heads up! The ice took a hit from the warm weather this week and there are now a few bare asphalt patches in the middle of the rink. Guess you could say that it's in fine form for your short track speed skating practice! We're planning to fix it this weekend after another big dump of snow tonight.
