Congratulations to the 2024 NFC Champions the GTA All Stars.

It was a hard fault game with both teams switching leads down to the last three minutes.

The game had all the excitement that we expected with both teams pulling out all the stops for an exciting finale with GTA squeezing out a win 30 to 29.

With this win, the All-Stars move on to the national championship to play against the Calgary gators on September 14.

The NFC wishes them the best of luck.

Two great games today:

Oak @ NB

North Bay faced off against Oakville for the second time this season with Oakville, hoping to reverse her fortunes and finally get some points in the win column.

However for the 2nd time the North Bay defense did their job and shut out Oakville 48 - 0 which brings the Bulldogs to 3-1 on the season and second place in the conference.

Ottawa @ Hamilton

The Sooners travel down the 40 one in search of their first win of the season after coming off back to back losses against GTA.

The Sooners step on to the field, a few men down, but this did not deter them as their defence held their ground and they took a 14 -0 lead into the 4th.

Hamilton fought back driving down the field finishing with a a nice pass to get themselves on the board following the extra point made it 7-0 with less than 5 min to go.

After Ottawa’s defence put a stop to Hamiltons final drive of the game the Sooners ran out the clock to secure a 14 - 7 win.

Next week:

Oakville travels to Ottawa and Hamilton heads down the QEW to face the GTA All Stars.

Week 4

GTA @ Oakville

Another tough loss for the Oakville longhorns at the hands of GTA All-Stars. GTA got out to an early lead to end the first quarter 7-0.

Oakville couldn’t respond and GTA continued its strong play and was up 30 - 0 going into halftime.

The second half Oakville hoped to reposition to get itself on the scoreboard but it wasn’t to be and GTA finished with a 61-0 win and remain undefeated at 4-0.

Week 5 will see Ottawa Sooners at Hamilton Jaguars and Oakville travels to North Bay with both visitors in search of a win.

GTA is taking a well earned bye week.

Working to ensure the relationship and history of the CMFL continues.

Thank you to Vince and the AFL for the continued relationship.

Kevin Ling
President, League Commissioner
Northern Football Conference

After much discussion and deliberation, the AFL and NFC are proud to jointly announce that the CMFL Championship game will continue on, in the spirit of the longstanding agreement that has seen this game played since 1999.

Furthermore, it has been decided that it is in the best interests of both leagues to continue productive discussions seeking to find ways to improve and expand upon this proud tradition in Canadian senior football.

The NFC and AFL would like to thank our teams, players and their families for their patience as our respective league leadership groups worked diligently through a time of uncertainty to find a path forward. Now that this path has been established, we look forward to September 14, when the Forster Memorial Trophy will be handed out once again in Alberta.
