📅 Mark your calendars: the OPWHL fall schedule is set!

We’ll be back at Greenboro Community Centre every Sunday from 12:30–2:30 PM throughout the fall.

A couple of dates to circle:

🏒 September 27 - Sort-Out Session
Our first session back and the chance to get everyone together before teams are finalized.

🎉 December 13 - Holiday Party
We’ll wrap up the fall portion of the season with our annual holiday celebration.

Regular-season play begins on October 18, with sessions continuing through November and into December. Game-specific schedules will be released and uploaded to opwhl.com once team names are finalized!

We’re looking forward to getting everyone back in the gym and kicking off another great OPWHL season!

This summer, we got to show what power wheelchair hockey is all about. 🏒

The 2026 CEWHA National Tournament brought some of the best power wheelchair hockey players in the country right here to Ottawa for an incredible weekend of competition, community, and growth for our sport.

For the OPWHL, it was a chance to showcase just how far our community has come; and what’s possible when athletes are given a place to compete, connect, and belong.

But Nationals was only one weekend.

Now, we’re getting ready to do it all over again. The 2026–27 OPWHL season is just around the corner, and whether you’ve played before or have never picked up a hockey stick, there’s a place for you in our league! 🔥

Our first session of the season takes place Sunday, September 27 at Greenboro Community Centre, with the regular season beginning October 18. 📆

Players. Coaches. Referees. Volunteers. New faces and familiar ones.

We’re naming our teams for the 2026–27 OPWHL season — and we want your ideas! 🏒🌲

This year, our four teams will take on brand-new names and identities inspired by:

🏛️ Ottawa & the National Capital Region
🦌 Wildlife & nature
🌪️ Forces of nature

We’re looking for name suggestions for our Orange, Red, Blue, and Green teams. You can submit ideas for as many or as few colours as you’d like.

Players and volunteers can fill out the Google Form using the link in our bio, and the form has also been sent by email.

Once submissions are in, we’ll review the ideas and narrow them down to finalists. Players will then vote on the final team names at our September 27 sort-out session.

By the time the regular season begins on October 18, all four teams will have their new names and logos to go along with our brand-new jerseys.

Yesterday, our OPWHL athletes and volunteers took in some of the action at the 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships happening RIGHT HERE in Ottawa! 🏀🇨🇦

Running until September 19, the tournament brings some of the world’s top wheelchair basketball athletes to Ottawa, with games being played at both TD Place and Carleton University 🌎

Wheelchair Basketball Canada was also kind enough to give the OPWHL a community table for the day, giving us the chance to connect with people and share more about our growing parasport community here in Ottawa!

It was a great opportunity to get together before our season begins and enjoy some high-level wheelchair basketball in the nation’s capital. We’re incredibly fortunate to have an event of this calibre in Ottawa, and we strongly encourage everyone to check out some tournament action before it wraps up! 💥

Thanks to the Ottawa Titans Baseball Club for hosting the OPWHL yesterday evening! ⚾

It was a great night for our players to get out together, enjoy some baseball, and watch the Titans wrap up their regular season with two wins in the doubleheader.

Ending the night with celebratory fireworks made it even better. We really appreciate the Titans welcoming our group and helping make the evening such a positive experience! 🙌

We had a fantastic time and already can’t wait to be back next year! ❤️

🏆 A summer with the Cup!

After capturing the 2025–2026 OPWHL Championship, each Bears player had the opportunity to spend a week with the Eric Jamieson Memorial Cup and celebrate the title with friends and family.

A well-deserved honour for one of our own. 🏆

Congratulations to #2 Camelon Dolan of the Ottawa Black Aces, recipient of the Sportsmanship Award at this year’s CEWHA National Tournament! 👏♠

We could not be prouder of the way Camelon represents the Black Aces both on and off the court. Camelon is a fantastic teammate, a constant source of positivity, and truly one of the people who helps hold the Black Aces together.

So much of what Camelon brings to the team goes beyond what shows up on the scoresheet. The support shown to teammates, the respect brought to every game, and the positive presence around the team are exactly what this award is meant to recognize. 🫂

Camelon was also the OPWHL’s only recipient of a major tournament award this year, making this recognition especially meaningful for our league. We couldn’t be prouder to have one of our players honoured in this way.

Congratulations, Cam, you are incredibly well deserving of this honour! ❤🖤
