Brandon has always been a kind friend to everyone on CBFT. Please help him out if you can ππ
UPDATE MARCH 6:
I (Danielle) had a great visit with Brandon yesterday. He's awake, chatty, able to use his phone (feel free to send him greetings on Facebook!), and is recovering well. He told me that he's ready to get out of the hospital now. LOL! No news yet on when he will be discharged or what next steps will be. When we know more, we'll post the next update.
-------------------
UPDATE MARCH 2:
Brandon has been transferred out of ICU to the Trauma unit. He is getting more visitors now and is happy to see everyone. He's able to walk around on his own, is eating solid foods again as well. It's too early to tell yet what the long term effects of the brain injury will be, if any.
Danielle will be visiting him on Sunday and will provide the next update after her visit.

UPDATE FEB 27:
Good news! Brandon is being transferred out of ICU!!
--------------
UPDATE FEB 26:
Great news! Brandon was extubated today and is breathing on his own. He's being kept sedated for now but this is a step in the right direction. Keep sending those positive vibes!
---------------
UPDATE FEB 25:
No extubation today. There's still too much throat swelling. The medical team will reassess tomorrow.
----------------
UPDATE FEB 24 PM:
We got some encouraging news this afternoon. Brandon has been deemed stable enough that tomorrow, his medical team will try to extubate him! His cervical spine has also been cleared and they have been able to remove the neck collar today. The hope is that once extubated, they will be able to lighten Brandon's sedation. Cross fingers and toes and keep sending those positive vibes his way!
---------------------------
UPDATE FEB 24 AM:
Thank you to all who have reached out and supported Brandon. We will post daily updates here as we receive them from his family. Please do not barrage them with messages or questions. Brandon has a long way to go yet and we want to help the family focus on him in any way we can. Doctors in ICU generally do their rounds starting at 9am until about noon so we will try to post updates midday as much as we can.
---------------------------------
UPDATE FEB 23, 2023:
Brandon is in stable condition and while still intubated, is starting to try to breathe on his own. The medical team has chosen to keep him sedated for today and will try to reduce his medication tomorrow.

UPDATE FEB 22, 2023:
Thank you to all who have donated to Brandon. A portion of the funds have been transferred to his bank account for any automated payments that he has. The balance of the funds are, for now, being held in trust until we are able to determine his remaining living expenses and how best to pay them on his behalf. His dogs' expenses while with their fosters will also be taken care of.
Brandon is in stable condition and the medical team hopes to reduce his sedation tomorrow. Pray that when he wakes up, he is able to communicate with us and help us to help him.

Please help us help our teammate, Brandon Butterworth.

Early this morning, our friend and teammate, Brandon Butterworth was found unresponsive and not breathing at the bottom of the basement stairs in the home where he lives.
He is currently in ICU here in Ottawa, fighting for his life. Brandon is intubated and being kept sedated while the ICU team continues to manage cranial pressure from the brain bleeds he suffered, hoping to avoid surgery.
Brandon faces a long road to recovery in the days and weeks ahead.
Brandon will have no income for the foreseeable future and so, as his teammates, we are asking the flyball and dog sport community to come together and help in any way they can.
We have set up a GoFundMe to accept any donation you wish to make. (Link above)
If you prefer, funds can be sent to our team captain, Danielle, directly via Paypal or etransfer at [email protected].
All Paypal'd and etransfer funds will be deposited directly to Brandon's bank account.
His dogs have landed in safe, loving foster homes and will be well cared for until he is ready and able to bring them home.
Please continue to send prayers and healing thoughts for Brandon.
