Movement is Medicine!! The more we move our bodies, the more our bodies move.

Nordic walking engages your full body, requiring your heart to pump a little harder to keep those muscles moving. This works in the moment of course, we can feel our heart rate quicken as we walk the trails, but it also impacts our cardiovascular system at rest!

This low impact cardio can improve general circulation, blood pressure, resting heart rate, and oxygen consumption. So if you've been encouraged to start regular walking for your heart health, you may want to join our walking club to help you get into this healthy weekly habit!

Three different tips for three different experiences!

Which tip is right for you?

Choose the wide, "Bell-Shaped Boot" tip if you require extra stability and help with balance while you’re walking. This is a great boot tip for those in pre-hab or re-hab from knee and hip injuries or need extra support with their balance.

Choose the flatter angled "Hiking Bo**ie" for a slightly less intense push off angle. This tip is great for those starting out with the fitness nordic walking technique or when walking on variable terrain (nature paths, gravel, grass) and prefer to walk with a boot tip at the end of their poles rather than the pointed carbide end tip of the pole.

Choose the "Fitness Bo**ie", the steeper angled boot tip for the most intense push off experience. This tip works best for facilitating the full "plant, push and propel" fitness motion for Nordic walkers.

We’re ready to help you find the right class for you! The easiest way to determine this is based on your walking pace and distance ability.

Gentle/ Beginner (Relaxed Pace) classes require a pace of at least 3 kilometers in 60 minutes. This class focuses on getting moving rather than pushing fitness levels. The relaxed pace walks are scheduled to be 45 minutes of walking with time for simple stretch and balance exercises to complete the 60 minute walk outing.

Fit Beginner/ Intermediate (Brisk & Steady) classes require a pace of at least 4-5 kilometers in 60 minutes. This class focuses on steady state cardio which is perfect for working on endurance. The walks are scheduled for 60 minutes, also allowing for an extra 15 minutes of stretch, strength and balance exercises to complete the 75 minute outing.

Fast Intermediate/ Advanced (Pacesetter) classes require a pace of at least 5-6 kilometers in 60 minutes. This class is for those pushing their fitness goals. It involves longer strides and faster pace walking. The outing includes time for strength and deeper stretch exercises. The walks are scheduled for 90 minutes and cover 6 to 8 kilometres. .

It was a Wonderful Wednesday for our adventure hiking group to head to Gatineau Park & enjoy Wolf Trail! Thanks to a nice cool breeze the temperature was just perfect for the climb to Mahingan & Tawadina Lookouts, plus kept the mosquitoes away!
