This is a frequent dialog in the clinic :-)
I am fully vaccinated as of July 2nd and also wanted to remind folks that RMT's continue to be open for business as we have been since May of last year. In fact, I've just increased my hours.
By order of the Ontario Government masks must still be worn during treatment by both I and my patients regardless of their vaccine status. We continue to disinfect between sessions and of course use fresh linens.
Although I believe in vaccination for the good of public health, patients do not need to be vaccinated to seek treatment and you will be given the same respect and attention in either case.
Look forward to seeing you on the table and to a time when the current pandemic has passed.
Massage opening Mon the 22nd at 4:30pm. Start the week right and jump into spring.
Devin Johnstone RMT | Integrate Healthcare Devin Johnstone has been working in movement arts and body/mind studies since 1995 when he dove into meditation and Asian martial arts as a complement to his schoolwork in Theatre. In 2012, he became a yoga teacher with special certification in Yin yoga through the Nosara Institute.
An update on COVID restrictions in Ontario as of Jan 12, 2021. Currently, RMT's are considered essential workers so I will be continuing to provide treatment, and patients are allowed to leave home to attend healthcare appoinments. As always, I'm committed to doing my best to provide treatment in the safest possible setting for the health of my patients. Bookings at https://www.integrateottawa.ca/devin-johnstone-rmt.

Dear clients, as of May 27, 2020 the Ministry of Health and the College of Massage Therapists have given clearance to resume the practice of Massage Therapy which had been halted due to restrictions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
I will soon be resuming treatment. In the meantime I wanted to share with you some of the limitations and modifications that will be in place to protect us from risks associated with close contact in the treatment setting. I want to assure you that I take the pandemic seriously and am doing everything I can to proceed carefully.
The return to practice will be gradual and there will be a limited number of appointments available. I will be directly contacting a number of clients and priority will be given to those whose condition are most pressing and have the greatest likelihood for negative outcomes if not treated.
I will be wearing a surgical mask and all clients will be required to wear either an appropriate, clean, home-made mask or a medical grade mask. If you feel you are unable to wear a mask, please contact me so that we can assess whether treatment is appropriate. You may also see me in medical scrubs.
In the interest of observing physical distancing, you will be encouraged to arrive only at the time of your appointment and to depart directly after.
Numerous other infection control measures will be in place including thorough cleaning and disinfection of the room and equipment between each appointment. Clients will be asked to complete a pre-screen in the days before their appointment as well at the time of the appointment.
Until further notice, I will not be offering Thai Massage sessions of appointments of longer than 60 minutes since, in my assessment, these present higher risk scenarios for treatment. I do hope to offer Thai Massage again as soon as possible.
If you have any questions or would llike to consult with me about starting treatment please send a direct message or, better yet, email me at [email protected].
Take care and enjoy the summer weather
Best,
Devin Johnstone RMT

Now that the hips are feeling good, let's do some work for the top half. O-Train cameo courtesy of OC Transpo. Also, geese. And snow.

Some typical movements I use to warm up in a 15-minute standing sequence. Outdoors is nice (except when the rain drips on my lens), but indoors works too!
15-Minute energizing and mobilizing standing sequence This short set of exercises does a great job of warming up the ankles, knees, hips and back in particular but can also serve to get the whole body moving for...
