On Saturday, August 8th, Elmridge hosted our first annual National Pickleball Day Team Tournament!

Over 60 pickleball matches were played throughout the day, leading to victory for Team Purple. Members also enjoyed great prizes, a catered lunch, Selkirk paddle demo table, and a pickleball themed photo booth. It’s great to be a pickleball player at EPT&PC!

Meet John Matthews, one of our pickleball coaches!

John is excited to be part of the excellent team of pickleball coaches at Elmridge, bringing a wealth of experience since transitioning to the sport three years ago.

As a former competitive junior and tennis professional, John leverages his deep technical understanding of court dynamics to help players master the fundamentals.

With a lifetime career in education and coaching, he applies expert pedagogy and adult-learning principles to provide precise, motivating instruction for both individuals and groups. John is a passionate and energetic coach dedicated to helping his students master the technical aspects of the game while fostering a fun and supportive environment.

John’s motto is ‘Raise your game, lift your spirits.’

We hosted our first Women's Tennis Clinic of the season today, and it was a huge success!

We were thrilled to see such an amazing turnout and so many players out on the courts.

Meet Douaa Charkaoui, a bilingual certified tennis coach that has been actively involved in the sport both as a player and a coach.

Douaa competed at a high level in Morocco, participating in numerous national tournaments, winning several titles, and achieving high national rankings. As an advanced player, Douaa continues to train and maintain a high level of performance on the court.

Alongside playing, Douaa has started building coaching experience by giving private lessons and working with players to develop their skills. Douaa is passionate about growing in the tennis community and aims to continue progressing both as a competitive player and a coach.

The Story of our Canadian Flag:

At the start of the 2026 season, after many years flying proudly over Elmridge, our Canadian flag was ready to be retired.

One of our members took it upon herself to contact Tim Tierney and ask if the City of Ottawa could provide a replacement. Not only did he arrange for a new flag—he personally delivered it to the club!

We truly appreciate his quick response and continued support of our community. It's wonderful to have a councillor who takes the time to help local organizations like ours.
