🏈 Football is a journey—and every level has a purpose.

For decades, the NCAFA has helped introduce thousands of young athletes to the game and prepared them for success both on and off the field. Their move to the Quebec Minor Football League is another exciting step in the continued growth of community football.

As athletes complete their U18 careers, many families begin asking the same question:

“What’s next?”

The answer is simple: the pathway continues.

➡️ Community Football (NCAFA)
➡️ U18 / Varsity
➡️ CJFL Junior Football
➡️ U SPORTS, CEGEP or NCAA
➡️ Professional opportunities

Each level exists to prepare athletes for the next challenge.

The Ottawa Sooners are proud to continue working alongside community football organizations by providing the next stage of development for athletes who want to keep competing, growing, and pursuing their football goals.

Together, we’re building a stronger football pathway for athletes across Eastern Ontario.

🏈 Community Football starts the journey. Junior Football continues it.

LEGACY SERIES | RICHARD GRAHAM

Some players make tackles.

Some players make history.

Richard Graham was the heartbeat of the Ottawa Sooners defense and the standard by which toughness, accountability, and leadership were measured.

A Team Captain and finalist for the 2023 CJFL Defensive MVP Award, Richard helped lead one of the nation’s top-ranked defensive units. His impact went far beyond the stat sheet. He set the tone every day—with relentless effort, uncompromising standards, and a commitment to excellence that became the foundation of the team’s identity.

As the leader of a defense that built a “No Loss” mentality, Richard demanded the best from everyone around him. His presence in the locker room, on the practice field, and under the lights on game day helped shape a culture where excuses were unacceptable and brotherhood came first.

The legacy he leaves behind isn’t measured solely by tackles, sacks, or awards. It’s measured by the standard he set and the players who continue to carry it forward.

Strength. Leadership. Accountability. Brotherhood.

Richard Graham wasn’t just part of the defense.

He was the heart and soul of it.

🏈 LEGACY SERIES | OWEN COWAN #8

Every chapter of the Ottawa Sooners story is written by the players who earn the “S.”

In 2022, Owen Cowan arrived ready to make an impact. Through hard work, determination, and a relentless commitment to the team, he quickly established himself as one of the league’s brightest young talents, earning Ottawa Sooners Offensive Rookie of the Year honours.

From big plays to unforgettable moments, Owen helped carry forward the tradition of excellence that has defined the Orange & Black since 1960.

Today, we celebrate his contribution to the brotherhood and his place in Sooners history.
