709Softball UPDATE!!!

I figured I would reach out to everyone and provide an update on our program and what is is planned for fall 2026 and 2027 season.

1. Fantasy weekend for U13 & U15 groups will be Sept 18-20 with a schedule to be posted early next week after long weekend.

2. Fantasy weekend for U11 will be Sept 25-27 weekend and all participants will receive an email next week after long weekend.

CAMPS/CLINICS FALL/WINTER
We are the process of renting a NEW facility as apparently the one we rented last year may not be available as they will run their own sessions. We are in discussions with 2 local facilities and should have them locked down early next week to provide the kids with more opportunities.

Lessons include:

- 4/6 week pitching sessions (Beginner A/B, Intermediate A/B and Advanced)
- weekly hitting camps which will focus on specific drills for hitting
- weekly fielding camps for learning all the fundamentals of fielding and throwing
- Learn to play programming for younger kids ages 9 and below

Another great session with the Carbonear U13 girls yesterday afternoon for a fielding session. We did station work for the first hour followed by base running then infield/outfield practice. In the practice portion we learned who covers each base, cut offs plus 1st and 2nd base drills. Thanks Deanne for asking me to stop out and give these girls a hand!!!

Fall & Winter Softball Sessions

Hi folks,
We are working hard behind the scenes and unveiling our 2026/27 Fall and Winter softball sessions. Every year it becomes more difficult to find a location but I am in discussions with a few buildings now to bring our 709Softball clinics to you.

I am open to a facility so if you know of someone that is interested in renting out their space please let me know ASAP as I would like to lock down a location in the next week or so.

We have had a huge response for pitching sessions and our weekly hitting clinics so over the next couple of weeks, I hope to have a new location for these groups.

If you’re looking for something to watch this week, our Galway Hitmen team are playing in Saskatoon at Nationals. All games are on YouTube under Softball Premier!!!

Emails have been sent out to the U13 and U15 groups for Fantasy Weekend. Both groups have big numbers so it will be a great weekend of skills, drills and games. If for some reason I've missed you please PM us.
Both groups as of now are full however we can add you to wait list if you wish as participants will have to confirm their spot this week.

U11 group will be emailed once both these groups are finalized. Good numbers in the U11 as well so I'm looking forward to working with this group as well.

Fantasy Weekend/ 2027 Travel Teams Identification Camp

EMAILS will go out this evening to the girls that have completed the forms for the upcoming fantasy camp weekend. In order to secure your spot, you must EMT the applicable funds to the 709Softball email. Please note that once you confirm registration the emt is NON-REFUNDABLE as we are in the process of completing the schedule and ordering fantasy weekend shirts.

After being a part of the U13 Eastern Canadians this past week/weekend it gave our girls are much better understanding of how we need to improve in order the compete at this level so 709Softball is hoping to have committed participants who want to improve and get to that level. We have some very talented players in these age groups so lets work together and achieve our goal of competing with the best in the country.

U15 - Plan is to attend the tournament in late June so as to not interfere with the NL Selects program in which we will train most of winter and prepare for Summer 2027.

U13 - The numbers for this age group are huge and we are looking for possible tournaments.

U11 - Looking good in this age group as well and in discussions with coaches in PEI and NS with regards to possible tournaments.

Fantasy Weekend Schedule will consist of skills, drills and games over the course of the entire weekend and hope to have the schedule out to everyone early in September.
