🌍 Adventure Racing Around the World

While we're getting ready for an exciting September of racing here in Western Canada, some of Europe's best adventure racers are currently taking on the 2026 Adventure Racing European Championship in Sjælland, Denmark.

And what a course.

Fifty teams representing 17 nations are racing non-stop through forests, coastline and open water, navigating their way through a course that incorporates three UNESCO World Heritage sites, six museums and centuries of Danish history. 🧭

This is one of the things we love most about adventure racing.

A race isn't simply a course through a destination.

It's a way of discovering it.

The landscapes. The history. The culture. The communities. And along the way, a little more about yourself and your teammates.

The winning team in Denmark will be crowned European Champions and earn a guaranteed place at the 2027 Adventure Racing World Championship in Croatia - another step along the incredible international pathway this sport creates.

From regional start lines here in Western Canada to Continental Championships and ultimately the World Championship, we're proud to be part of a truly global adventure racing community.

Good luck to everyone racing in Denmark - and to the organizers, volunteers and communities bringing another extraordinary adventure to life. 💙🌍

Some Partnerships Come Full Circle. 💙

Adventure racing in Canada has a history... and Subaru has been part of it for decades.

Long before the Subaru Western Canada Adventure Racing Series existed, Subaru Canada helped support the growth of the sport through the original Subaru Adventure Racing Series... Canada’s first national adventure race series.

Years later, our paths came together again when Subaru became the title partner of the 2025 Adventure Racing World Championships in British Columbia, helping us welcome the world’s best teams to Canada.

And now, we’re building the next chapter together.

Through the Subaru Western Canada Adventure Racing Series, we’re supporting established races, creating new entry points into the sport, investing in athletes and communities, and helping more people discover just how extraordinary adventure racing can be.

There’s something pretty special about a brand that believed in the potential of this sport at the grassroots level years ago... and is here again as we work to grow it for the next generation.

The adventure continues. 💙🧭

🧭 Meet the Race Director: Ben Kwiatkowski

We're excited to officially introduce Ben Kwiatkowski as Race Director for the inaugural Expedition Canada LITE!

Ben brings years of experience competing at the highest levels of adventure racing, both in Canada and internationally. Along the way, he's also spent plenty of time behind the scenes, assisting with courses, logistics and the many moving pieces that go into creating a great adventure race.

Now he's stepping into the Race Director role for the first time, and we couldn't think of a better event to begin with.

With LITE, Ben is creating a course that's achievable enough to welcome newcomers to the sport, but with enough navigation, strategy and challenge to keep experienced racers on their toes.

45 km. 8 hours. Paddle. Bike. Trek. Navigate.

September 12 | Revelstoke, BC

Welcome to the other side of the map, Ben. 😉 We're excited to see what you've got planned!

Registration is open!

One more adventure before the season ends? 👀

We know there’s a lot happening in BC right now, and our thoughts remain with the communities and people being impacted.

At the same time, there are still adventures ahead - and Expedition Canada Lite is one we’re really excited about.

This is the inaugural year for EC Lite, and we’re intentionally keeping it small. We’ve kept registration fees low and spaces limited, with the goal of creating an approachable adventure race experience without losing the challenge, teamwork and unpredictability that make this sport so much fun.

If you’ve been curious about adventure racing but haven’t quite made the leap, this could be your chance to try it.

If you’re already an adventure racer and want one more opportunity to test yourself before the season wraps up, this could be your chance too.

We’re not expecting a huge field this first year - and that’s okay. In fact, we think there’s something pretty special about being part of the first one.

Come race. Bring a teammate. Discover somewhere new. Support the local businesses and communities that welcome us in. And finish the season with a story worth telling.

Why Events Still Matter

At a time when communities across our province are facing wildfires, evacuations and uncertainty, talking about races and events can feel secondary. And in many ways, it is. People and safety come first. Always.

But there’s another reality we don’t want to lose sight of: our local businesses are really struggling right now, and events matter.

Events bring people into communities. Racers and their families stay in hotels and campgrounds, eat at local restaurants, buy fuel and groceries, visit shops, hire guides and support tourism operators.

But the impact goes beyond traditional tourism.

Visitors discover local artists and makers, musicians, galleries, markets, culture and storytelling, locally made food and products, and the people and traditions that give each community its own identity.

That connection is part of what makes travelling for an event so special. You may come for a race, but you leave knowing a place, and often wanting to return.

For small businesses, artists, tourism operators and others who depend on a short and incredibly important summer season, losing even a few busy weeks can have a very real impact.

Events also give us a platform to share these places with a much larger audience. Through our athletes, photographers, filmmakers, media partners and social channels, we can showcase not only spectacular landscapes, but also the people, businesses, culture and stories behind them.

There is, of course, a time to stay away. We will always respect closures, restrictions and the needs of emergency crews and affected communities.

But when it is safe and communities are ready to welcome visitors, showing up matters too.

Book the room. Eat at the local restaurant. Visit the gallery or market. Buy something made locally. Grab a coffee. Fill up at the local gas station. Wander through the shops. Stay an extra night.

Experience the community... not just the course.

These places make our adventures possible. When the time is right, continuing to explore responsibly is one small way we can support the businesses, artists, creators and people who make them so special. ❤️

Our hearts are with everyone impacted by the wildfires currently affecting communities across British Columbia, and especially here at home in the Okanagan.

It is an incredibly challenging time for families, businesses and communities facing uncertainty, evacuations and loss. We are deeply grateful to the firefighters, emergency personnel, volunteers and countless others working tirelessly to protect people, homes and the places we all love.

This one also hits especially close to home for the Expedition Canada family.

Two members of our Subaru Expedition Canada Race Team, Jasper and Tom, have traded race packs and checkpoints for their wildfire gear and are currently on the front lines, helping protect communities in need.

Adventure racing asks people to stay calm under pressure, work as a team, adapt when circumstances change and keep moving forward when things get difficult. But what Jasper, Tom and their fellow wildfire crews are doing right now puts those qualities into an entirely different perspective.

We are incredibly proud of them, and grateful to everyone out there doing this difficult and important work.

To our neighbors, friends, local businesses and everyone affected by the fires: we’re thinking of you. Stay safe and take care of one another. ❤️

🌍 The Future of Adventure Racing is in Good Hands. 🧭

As the inaugural Junior Adventure Racing World Championship closes, we want to congratulate every athlete who stepped up to the start line and every person who helped make this historic event possible.

To the team at Endurance Adventure, Raid Témiscamingue, Adventure Racing World Series (ARWS), IARA, the volunteers, officials, families, and local community - thank you for creating an experience that these young athletes will never forget.

The event wasn't just exceptionally organized - it was beautifully showcased. The live coverage, stories, photos, and videos allowed the entire adventure racing community to follow along and celebrate this milestone together.

Most importantly, you invested in the future of our sport.

These young athletes are more than tomorrow's champions. They are tomorrow's teammates, race directors, volunteers, course setters, community leaders, and ambassadors for the outdoors.

If we want adventure racing to continue to grow, this is exactly where we start.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making history, and thank you for inspiring the next generation of adventurers.

The future is bright. 🌿

Leadership isn't always about being in front.

Sometimes it's about having the confidence to make the next decision.

Adventure racing has a way of teaching lessons that reach far beyond the finish line. It teaches us to trust our teammates, stay calm when plans change, and keep moving forward even when the path isn't obvious.

The best leaders aren't the loudest. They're the ones who listen, adapt, encourage, and help bring out the best in the people around them.

That's true in racing.

It's true in business.

And it's true in life.

Here's to the leaders who inspire us, the teammates who have our backs, and the adventures that continue to teach us something new every time we step into the wild.
