After a couple rained out / too hot nights, we finally has some good paddling weather! We had seven boats out for the paddle along Big Island on Pigeon L. last night. the wind whipped up a few small waves at the start but it was beautifully calm for the return trip.

Got close up with a heron, found a Canadian flag flying in the middle of the lake and had just a relaxing paddle. Ended with a gorgeous sunset.

Let's hope for the same weather next week!

We had just the perfect evening for a paddle down the Indian River to Rice Lake last night. Warm, sunny, calm and great company!
We had a beautiful sunset and a bit of wildlife to keep things interesting (I mistakenly thought we had seen a green heron in the twilight dusk but it turned out to be a juvenile Cormorant).
Only two more paddles this season - Sunday afternoon and Thursday evening. Hopefully a lot of the members can make these last two dates for the season.

The trip to High Falls on Eel's Creek is always enjoyable but this year was especially nice.
The weather was perfect, the water was high (only one portage going upstream), the falls were roaring and the company was excellent.
Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy a wonderful evening of paddling.

We had a perfect evening for our first paddle of the year. Warm, no bugs, a great crowd of 18 boats and some great wildlife along the way (herons, osprey, ducks, geese). What more could you ask for!
See you all next week. Check out the website for location and directions.

We had an absolutely beautiful night for our paddle up the Little Bob Channel and down into Big Bob Channel last night.
The sun was shining, the winds were very light and the bugs were pretty much non-existent.
And to top it all off..... Kawartha Dairy ice cream after the paddle (we burned a lot of calories paddling!).

It may have been 30+ degrees in town but it was a beautiful night on the water as 13 boats had a great paddle around C**n Lake tonight.
Bonus #1, this is the first time I've seen a snake crossing the lake. Any herpatologists in the group know what kind this is?
And bonus #2. this loon was kind enough to pose for a few shots as the sun was going down.
Don't forget there is a paddle scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Check the website and your emails for the details.

Despite the slightly damp weather (some got more damp than others) we had a fun paddle and portage up Eel Creek to High Falls last night. We saw a few Great Blue Herons an Osprey and a cool carving someone made in a tree trunk near the falls.
Water level was down a bit and there wasn't as much water coming down the falls as in past years but it's still a fun spot to visit. Thanks to everyone who came out for a paddle - we had 10 boats in the water this week!

This past Wednesday was our last official paddle of the season and although we didn't have a lot of people out, it was a beautiful night for a paddle. It did get a bit cloudy and threaten rain for a few minutes but instead of rain we were treated to a beautiful full double rainbow (well, one full rainbow, one partial). Here's a few snippets from our paddle towards Warsaw Caves.
Hope to see you all out again next year (or maybe run into you on the water this fall still).

Last night's paddle was cut short due to the storm passing through but there was some sunshine on the lake and lots of wildlife to see.
Only two more scheduled paddles left for the season so let's hope for fantastic weather on Wednesdays!
