Rest in peace Tyrone. Condolences to the Magbitang family, his friends and the Durham Regional Police services for this tragic loss.

Tyrone and his brother were two of the most exciting young kickboxing competitors in Ontario, trained by their father, and were always respectful and dedicated competitors.

The Durham Regional Police Service is profoundly saddened by the tragic death of Constable in Training (CIT) Tyrone Magbitang, 27, who was involved in a motor vehicle collision while travelling to the Ontario Police College on July 7, 2026.

CIT Magbitang joined the Durham Regional Police Service as a Special Constable in May 2023. In April of this year, he took the next step toward achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer when he was selected as a police constable recruit.

Tyrone was a compassionate, dedicated, and service-driven individual who believed deeply in helping others and making a positive difference in the community. Following his Police Foundations education, he pursued a career in public safety with determination, humility, and an unwavering commitment to serving those around him.

Although his time with our Service was far too short, Tyrone made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. He will be remembered for his kindness, professionalism, and the tremendous potential he brought to our organization. His loss is deeply felt throughout the Durham Regional Police Service and the wider policing community.

Today, CIT Magbitang will be transported from London, Ontario, to the Centre for Forensic Sciences (CFS) in Toronto. Loved ones and members of the Durham Regional Police Service will accompany him as a mark of respect and in recognition of his service and commitment to the profession he aspired to join.

On behalf of the Durham Regional Police Service, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Tyrone’s family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones. We mourn alongside them and remain committed to supporting all those affected by this unimaginable loss.

We respectfully ask that the privacy of Tyrone’s family and those mourning his loss be honoured during this difficult time.

10 years ago today we put on the last ever Muay Thai card to take place at the Trentwinds!

Some of the athletes who competed went on to do great things in the sport and have very successful careers!

We are proud to have provided a platform for them and local competitors, and to bring the first real Muay Thai events to Peterborough!

🖤 A Day of Heartbreak for Canada’s First Responder Family 🖤

Today, our thoughts are with the families, friends, and colleagues grieving unimaginable loss.

We extend our deepest condolences following the tragic deaths of two Island EMS paramedics and their patient in a devastating ambulance collision near the Confederation Bridge. They answered the call to help others, and in doing so made the ultimate sacrifice. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment to their community will never be forgotten.

We also stand with the Durham Regional Police Service as they mourn the loss of a Constable in Training who was killed while travelling to the Ontario Police College. Another recruit remains in critical condition. Though this officer had not yet completed training, they had already chosen a life of service—one dedicated to protecting others and making a difference in their community. Their dream of serving was tragically cut short, and their loss is felt throughout the policing community and beyond.

Please keep the families, friends, coworkers, and all those affected in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.

Tristan made us proud this weekend on the big stage at Prestige Fight Series!

He put in the work, left it all in the ring and got his hand raised!

Props to his opponent for being game and having a back and forth battle from the opening to closing bell.

Looking forward to getting back to work for the next. Tristan has the heart, the determination and the work ethic to take himself far in this sport 🥊🔥💪🙏

The summer heat has arrived! Remember to stay hydrated and stay safe out there!

Classes will be running as scheduled this week except Wednesday, July 1st, when we will be closed for Canada Day. We'll be back to our regular schedule the following day.

This Sunday, July 5th, Tristan Joss will be representing Kawartha Combat on Prestige Fight Series in Toronto. We're incredibly proud of the hard work he's put in throughout camp.

If you're able to make the trip, we'd love to have a strong Kawartha Combat crowd there to cheer him on. Wishing Tristan the very best of luck!
