Wild Rock Wild Rock Outfitters, outdoor adventure equipment & clothing needs. Bicycles/Camping & Hiking/Snow Sports/Paddle Sports
(254)

Wild Rock is the place for all your outdoor gear - cycling, camping, paddling, travel and everything you need to live life and play in the outdoors. With the best brands in the industry and dedicated, knowledgeable staff we can get you ready for your next adventure in the Kawarthas, or across the globe! The Wild Rock name came up at about 3am when Scott and Kieran were driving a clapped out '82 Chevette with one wiper blade in snowstorm on the way home from a climbing trip to the T-Wall in Tennessee in winter 1992. Two 24-year-old lads, Kieran Andrews, a professional ski and climbing bum, and Scott Murison, a climbing and telemark major with a minor Bachelor of Commerce degree, launched Wild Rock Outfitters in the fall of 1992. Kieran and Scott started small, with a 900 square foot store on George Street in downtown Peterborough. In 1997, they purchased their present location on Charlotte St, the old bingo hall (previously an A&P grocery store originally built in 1938) and gutted and renovated it. In March 2003 they launched a new category offering professional and friendly service and sales for mountain, road and hybrid bikes. Bike Werks was developed when Scott and Kieran took on two new partners in the business, Dave Woodfine and long-time employee Jonathon Moreno. With a newly renovated space in the Wild Rock Outfitters store, Bike Werks provides a fantastic selection of bikes and accessories for anyone interested in two-wheeled adventure. So natural was the fit that eventually the Bike Werks name was dropped and Wild Rock became the place we know today! Since then the Wild Rock crew has been busting their butts trying to be the best little privately owned store relevant to the outdoor athlete and enthusiast.

We have some pretty great brand partners and we sure do appreciate how they make our summer shenanigans more fun, and, well… more financially comfortable iykwim.

We carry a whole bunch of Canadian brands. Here’s just a couple of the reasons why:

🍁 Shorter shipping distance means less impact getting here
🍁 Buying from Canadian companies puts our dollars to work right here, behind rad people doing good work getting folks out to play (like how this community has backed us for over 30 years)
🍁 Canadian brands get Canadian conditions and landscapes, whether that’s our diverse backcountry, west coast riding, or Ontario windchills in January

Come say hi to a few of our favourites!

It’s the last long weekend of summer, let’s go paddling!

(Sometimes the work of instilling a love of nature in your kids involves ughs and demands for more candy, but it’s at least 85% sunshine and rainbows, probably. Keep on keepin’ on, parents)

We’re closed today so our marketing manager can try again for some social content without interruptions (😂😬). Well also because it’s a holiday. See ya tomorrow!

Say hi to Mini Mioche!

We're picky about the brands that make it into our shop. They need to fit how we think about gear, the planet, and people. Their products need to be made well and made to last, by people who care about something more than just the bottom line.

And we're especially careful about what we choose for kids: we want to offer you only the best, most sustainable, most hand-me-downable gear for your mini-adventurers.

Mini Mioche checks every box, and they're made right here in Canada (in Toronto, actually, just a quick zip down the 401).

Come check out Mini Mioche in store or online!
