This week's Friday Shout-Out goes to The Favourite Greek . This lovely downtown restaurant is one of our regular go-toโs.
Recently, Verne and I enjoyed dinner there before heading next door to Market Hall Performing Arts Centre for a show, and it reminded us what a great combination that is. A delicious meal followed by an evening of live music, comedy, theatre, or whatever wonderful event is happening downtown makes for a pretty perfect night out.
The food is consistently excellent, the portions are generous, and there's something about a good Greek meal that always feels both comforting and special.
While we love dining in, their dips and pita have also become one of our potluck staples. The Red Pepper & Feta Dip, Traditional Tzatziki, and Hummus are always a hit with friends and family.
We're fortunate to have wonderful locally owned businesses like this right in the heart of our downtown and The Favourite Greek is well worth a special trip.
Have you been? What's your favourite item on the menu?

Here's a simple CHALLENGE for this week:
Choose just ONE trip you'd normally make by car, and try it out by bike instead!
Maybe it's a quick run to the grocery store, a coffee date with a friend, a trip to the farmers' market, or picking up a few essentials downtown (which is MUCH easier by bike in our opinion! ).
It might seem like a small change, but small changes add up. Every trip made by bike instead of by car helps reduce emissions, saves fuel, eases traffic congestion, and adds a little extra movement to your day.
And for those of you who already ride regularly, maybe your challenge is to try pushing yourself for a longer distance. See what you and your bike can do!
The interesting thing is that most transportation cyclists don't start out that way.
They replace one trip, then another, and before long they find themselves choosing the bike for as many everyday adventures as possible. What begins as an occasional ride often becomes a practical and enjoyable way to get around.
One trip may not seem like muchโbut it's how bigger changes begin.
Where could your bike take you this week? ๐

Anybody else LOVING lilac season? ๐ชปOne of our favourite, annual traditions is our bike ride to Trent and back along the Rotary Greenway Trail. Last weekend we were out in the gorgeous sunshine and drinking in the fragrant displays of purple blooms.

This week's Friday Shout-Out goes to Market Hall Performing Arts Centre ๐ถ
Nestled beneath the iconic clock tower in the heart of downtown Peterborough, Market Hall has been the backdrop for so many wonderful memories over the years. In that wonderful tower, Verne and I have enjoyed concerts, community celebrations, Womenโs Business Network events, award ceremonies, amazing circus performances, and even our niece's wedding!
Most recently, we had an awesome evening seeing The Sadies perform, and we're excited to attend Blues for Ukraine coming up soon. https://tickets.markethall.org/ukraine26
We've enjoyed so many memorable evenings there over the years, and we're grateful to have a venue like Market Hall right here in our community.
Thank you to the team at Market Hall for helping make our community such a vibrant place to live, celebrate, and connect. ๐

Todayโs product spotlight is pointed at the Mirrycle Mirror. Many people tell us they donโt bother with a mirror on a bicycle but, WE PROMISE, as soon as you have one you will never want to go without.
The Mirrycle Mirror in particular is our absolute favourite. In fact, itโs the only one we carry in the shop, because it works on just about every bike we come across. Come by and pick one up today. We can even install it for you!

This post is an important CALL TO ACTION. Ebike legislation is under review in Ontario. There is a new proposal from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation that could significantly impact scooter-style and motorcycle-style e-bikes. Bikes that go 32kms per hour.
These bikes may be reclassified under motor vehicle categories resulting in LISCENSING and INSURANCE.
If this proposal moves forward, it will impact hundreds of thousands of existing riders across Ontario who LEGALLY bought and rely on these bikes. Many of these people would no longer be able to use the bike that they already own.
Many riders depend on these bikes to make a living. Taking these bikes away will not solve the real problem. It will create bigger social issues and put even more pressure on already stressed systems.
This is still in the consultation stage, but feedback matters RIGHT NOW.
If we stay quiet, this will likely move forward as proposed.
If we act together, there is still a real chance to influence the outcome.
What you can do (5 minutes)
We strongly encourage you to take the actions below:
1. Contact your local MPP
https://www.ola.org/en/members/current
โ Search by city or riding
โ Find your MPP and send them a message.
2. Contact the Minister of Transportation
https://www.ola.org/en/members/all/prabmeet-singh-sarkaria
3. Submit an official comment (most important)
https://www.regulatoryregistry.gov.on.ca/proposal/53917
Even a short comment helps โ explainin how this impacts you.
Let your voice be heard! Stand with us and Stand up for ebikers in Ontario!
