MYTH: Most People believe they don't need a life jacket "if they are close to shore" or "because they can swim" and that "they can put a life jacket on in the water" if they need it.



FACT: In 80% of drownings, a life jacket was not worn. Research shows that in cold water, the risk of drowning increases by 500%, and many of those drownings will occur within 6 feet (2 meters) of safety.



Be safe - wear a life jacket.

Open water safety tips!

Be sure to swim *only* where you feel comfortable. No matter what others are doing or encouraging you to do, do not go farther or deeper than you can handle! Trust your boundaries.

Swim parallel to the shore and stay inside marked areas.

Be aware that cold water or rough conditions can impact your swimming abilities!

It’s time for a Hot Tub Water Safety Tip! Always make sure the water is clean and safe. This is best maintained by measuring proper pH and disinfectant levels.
