WHAT IS NMHA SELECT HOCKEY?

Select hockey provides players with an opportunity to experience a higher level of competition and development while remaining part of their local league team.

Select players are dual-rostered. Players remain registered and committed to their sanctioned local league team while also participating in Select hockey.

Select is designed to complement local league—not replace it.

🏒 U21 LOCAL LEAGUE – REGISTRATION EXTENDED! 🏒

There’s still time to get on the ice this season! Simcoe Minor Hockey is planning a U21 Local League team for players ages 18–20.

We know this age group is busy with work, school and other commitments, so the U21 program is designed to keep players involved in hockey without the commitment of a full traditional season.

🥅 The season will include:
• 2–3 practices per month
• A few exhibition games throughout the season
• Entry into 2–3 tournaments
• A fun way to keep playing hockey with a schedule that works around school and work!

📅 UPDATED REGISTRATION DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 25

Interested players can register online with an initial $100 deposit until September 25.

Throughout the season, players will be billed at the end of each month for the ice, referee and timekeeper costs incurred by the team that month.

If there are not enough players registered to move forward with the team, the $100 deposit will be refunded.

🏒 If you’re 18–20 and not ready to hang up the skates, we’d love to have you join us!

Register by September 25 and help us make our U21 team happen!

🏒 INTERESTED IN HELPING ON THE ICE? 🏒

We love having parents and volunteers out on the ice helping our U5, U6 and U7 Warriors learn and have fun!

If you’re planning to help on the ice, please remember to bring:

⛸️ Skates
🪖 CSA-approved hockey helmet with the chinstrap properly fastened

Full hockey equipment is not required for coaches/on-ice helpers.

Don’t forget — all volunteers must also have the appropriate screening and qualifications completed for their role.

🏒 ’TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE HOCKEY STARTS… 🏒

’Twas the night before hockey starts,
and all through the town,
Hockey bags were packed,
with equipment piled down.

The skates had been sharpened,
the sticks freshly taped,
Helmets and gloves
were all in their place.

The players were nestled
all snug in their beds,
While goals, saves and breakaways
danced through their heads.

Parents checked schedules
once… maybe twice,
Making sure everyone knew
when to be on the ice.

The coaches were ready,
their drills all prepared,
For a brand-new season
and memories to be shared.

Tomorrow the rink lights
will shine bright once more,
As players grab their bags
and head through the arena door.

There’ll be new teammates,
old friends and lots of fun,
And the 2026–2027 hockey season
will officially have begun! 🏒

So sleep tight, hockey players,
the waiting is through…

Tomorrow we’re BACK ON THE ICE —
and we can’t wait to see you! 🧡🩵
