Everything running. I love running! Trail running is my favourite, but I log a lot of hours on the road. Live a healthy lifestyle. Get outside.

❤️ February is Heart Health Month ❤️

Heart rates are individual - they vary by age, gender, fitness and activity levels and more. Looking to get faster and fitter? Read the below on the benefits of training in each HR zone.

🫀 Zone 1 - Warm Up - 50-60% of Max HR

Offers benefits such as improved aerobic endurance, enhanced fat metabolism, and reduced risk of overtraining. It allows for gentle yet effective cardiovascular exercise, promoting overall fitness while minimizing stress on the body.

🫀 Zone 2 - Easy - 60-70% of Max HR

Benefits include improved aerobic fitness, increased endurance, and enhanced fat burning. It allows for a moderate intensity level that promotes cardiovascular adaptation while still being sustainable for longer durations, making it an effective zone for building a strong aerobic base and improving overall running performance.

🫀 Zone 3 - Aerobic - 70-80% of Max HR

Provides benefits such as improved lactate threshold, increased aerobic capacity, and enhanced speed. This zone challenges the cardiovascular system to work at a moderate to high intensity, improving performance by increasing the body’s ability to clear lactate and sustain higher effort levels for longer durations.

🫀 Zone 4 - Treshold - 80-90% of Max HR

Benefits range from improved anaerobic threshold, increased speed, and enhanced overall performance in high-intensity workouts and races. This zone challenges the cardiovascular system to work at a high intensity, improving the body’s ability to sustain fast-paced efforts and push through fatigue, leading to greater speed and performance gains.

🫀 Zone 5 - Max - 90-100% of Max HR

Provides benefits such as improved maximal aerobic capacity (VO2 max), enhanced speed, and increased anaerobic power. This high-intensity zone pushes the body to its limits, helping improve overall cardiovascular fitness and performance in activities requiring maximum effort, such as sprinting or high-intensity interval training.

Holiday running pics! Ran 2 fun events this past week. The annual Brewer’s Row Challenge - 6 breweries over 9 kilometres. I had a blast even though I don’t drink beer. The second one was the Winter Solstice Run that benefited a local Shelter. It’s great to be a part of such a fun and caring run community 🥰. Happy Holiday running!

I may have done it for the T-shirt 😜alone, but I really ran my first WAM because of these people. My ❤️ WAM 2017 was the reward for so many fun training runs with these amazing people. We’ve had so many great days running and racing together over the years. Here’s to many, many more adventures 🍷Sadly, they wont include running WAM again 😢

Volunteering is so much fun! Got to experience the Javalina Jundred without actually having to run 100K 😎 This race is pretty epic with amazing runners, volunteers and supporters. So glad we decided to do this! Photos from day 1 at Package Pickup.
