– August 4, 1989
Before he became the hardcore icon known as Cactus Jack in ECW, Mick Foley reached a major milestone in Texas.
On August 4, 1989, Cactus Jack and "Sheik" Scott Braddock defeated Jeff Jarrett and Matt Borne at the legendary Dallas Sportatorium to capture the WCWA World Tag Team Championship.
The victory made them the final WCWA World Tag Team Champions.
As World Class Championship Wrestling merged with the Continental Wrestling Association to form the USWA, they were immediately recognized as the first-ever USWA World Tag Team Champions.
This championship win was a turning point in Foley's career. It established him as a main-event caliber performer and helped pave the way for his move to WCW—and eventually to the legendary ECW run that changed professional wrestling forever.
