The Mad Moose Marathon, Half Marathon, Ultra Marathon and 10 KM in Prince George BC, a BC Athletics sanctioned event.

Course 09/21/2019

And that's a wrap, registration for this year's Mad Moose Marathon is now closed. Congratulations to everyone that got their name on the confirmation list and who will be toeing the start line on Sunday morning.

Here are a few key reminders for race weekend:

- Race Package Pickup - 4-6PM, Saturday, September 21st at Stride & Glide Sports, 1671-15th ave

- Race packages may also be picked up on race morning well before your race start time

- Bag Drop - There will be a bag drop at Takla Road and UNBC for those athletes that either wish to drop gear during the race or to have items available to pick up at these locations. If you have items that you would like transported to these locations (water bottles, food, etc) for you to pick up during the race please bring them with you to package pickup and place them in the appropriate bin. Items MUST BE DROPPED OF ON SATURDAY NIGHT (sorry for yelling), the bins will spend the night with their appropriate aid station volunteers and will NOT be available at Otway on Sunday morning. If you have items that you would like to drop during the race (jackets, empty water bottles, etc) place them in the bin at the water station and they will be transported back to Otway at the end of the event.

- Race Start - Otway Ski Center, 8141 Otway Road,
Prince George

- Race Start Times:
- 6:00 AM - Ultra Moose Marathon (10hr Cutoff) - Bring a headlamp, it will be dark when you start
- 7:30 AM - Full Moose Marathon.
- 9:30 AM - Half Moose Marathon
- 10:30 AM - 10 KM
- 12:00 PM - Awards

- Course - Check our our "Course" page on the website http://www.madmoosemarathon.ca/mmm/index.php/course which includes video links for all race distances

- Berry season is in full swing right now and there have been a LOT of bear sightings at Otway recently. Please keep your eyes and ears open for wildlife and make lots of noise so they can hear you coming and get out of your way in plenty of time. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to carry bear spray with you if you have some. If you need to purchase some, Stride & Glide Sports carries it along with bear spray holders, you can pick them up at package pickup on Saturday.

-There are a couple of other user groups at the Otway Nordic Centre this weekend and as such we will be located in a different location for 2019. You will find the race office and day-of package pickup in the basement of the main lodge. We will NOT have access to the upper floor of the day lodge like we have had in previous years. You will find washrooms in the basement of the XC Technical building just to the West of the main lodge, they can be accessed from the main ski stadium and are on the outside of the building, under the stairs that lead to the second floor. Please do not use the washrooms in the main Day Lodge.

- Get out there and have fun, trail races are supposed to be low key, fun, muddy events. We provide the low key and mud, you get to bring the fun :)

Anything I've missed, hit me up in the comments below

Course Competitors are warned that aid support (water, gatorade support will be very limited)β€”it’s a trail run after all. At aid stations runners must re-supply themselves with fluids. Don't expect aid stations every 3k as in road races !

Hello Mad Moose fans...yes you...I'm talking to you. We are still in need of a few volunteers for race day and are asking for your assistance.

Maybe you can't run this year but would love to help out on race day? Maybe you are running but have a friend or family member that would be willing to give us a hand while you are on course?

If you or someone you know would be able to volunteer some time for this awesome event we would be forever grateful πŸ™πŸ» If so you/they can post a reply here or contact Richard at [email protected] or cell--(text please) at 250-640-0457.

Thank you in advance for considering our request, and if you could share this far and wide it would be much appreciated.

Hello All,

The event still requires first aid coverage for the Sep 22 2019 Mad Moose in order for it to take place. We need 4 first aiders ( level 3 Tickets) with their own first aid gear to help out 6am-430pm.

2 would be positioned at the Start/Finish at the Otway Ski Center, the other 2 at the Takla Road aid station.

If you can help us out please contact me by e-mail at [email protected] or my cell--(text please) at 250-640-0457. Kindly provide your full names and ph #'s and e-mail addresses. I need to know prior to Mid August so I have time to amend the insurance coverage to be sure you are covered by our BCA insurance.

Many thanks Richard Stewart,
(Co-Race Director)
