Hey everyone. Ladies 5:50 program will be postponed this evening. Whatever is going on with the highway has traffic backed up like I've never seen before. I'm not getting near the gym any time soon.

When I was a kid there were very few options to get pizza but my parents wanted to try this new pizza place that had just opened on Russell Street so they ordered a couple last pizzas and that started what would become a family tradition in our house. Every Saturday night my parents and me along with my five siblings would get together with two large pizzas from Vito's.

Since then the Georgoudis family has built a solid reputation for being extremely supportive in the community and over the years when I opened KV Golden Gloves Boxing and I was trying to do fundraising I would go there looking for a donation, and every single time they came through.

A few months ago I started a fundraiser for my gym called ' In your corner "to try and meet the ever growing demand of kids coming to the gym wanting to participate but the parents, or parent just didn't have the financial means so the object was to find local businesses to support a child. So like I always do I drafted a letter and drove around for days delivering them and as usual almost no response from any of the companies. And I understand, there are a lot of sports organizations trying to raise money so I get it. And let's be honest, boxing for kids isn't exactly a main stream sport, and this was a big ask. But one local business did respond, and I wasn't even surprised at who it was. Thank-you Vito's for always being supportive since I opened KV Golden Gloves 18 years ago. You have answered the call every time we've asked, every, single, time and I can't tell you how much we appreciate you.

I had a good training session with some of my adult members tonight, this group is growing so fast! No matter why someone comes to my gym, they get real training, they learn the real thing, but I also make sure anyone can be successful. Fitness programs have become so trendy and everything has become so flashy so it looks good on social media, not here. I am a coach, it's not my job to entertain people, my job is to teach skills, real skills. It's sweaty, it's hard, it's messy and you will do the same boring thing a million times until you get it right, but in doing that you will be spent by the end of each training session , and to me that is the point. It's not about glitzy or looking trendy, it's about being stronger when you walk out than you were when you walked in.

Hey everyone. The ladies program for tonight at 5:50 is postponed for the evening. My apologies for the late notice.

I started doing the math a couple days ago for some reason. 44 years ago I started working with kids. Over 30 years working with preschoolers and almost 30 years as a boxing coach, and I didn't set out to do any of that. I didn't choose it, it chose me. Honestly as a kid I saw myself doing a bunch of different things when I grew up, none of what I'm doing ever crossed my mind, but I'm exactly where I am supposed to be. I've watched a countless number of kids grow into adults and the satisfaction I've gotten from that could never be replaced by any amount of money I could have made doing something else.
