Starting July 6th I will be starting an 8 week training program for absolutely anyone who wants to try. No experience needed and you don't have to be in any kind of shape. Participants will learn the basic fundamentals of boxing along with boxing training principles. There will be circuit routines, HITT workouts and body weight routines and the best part is that you go at your own pace
The cost is $140 for the 8 weeks and will run Monday to Wednesday at 8 in the evening but participants also get access to available open gym times as well
The coach for the program is Tim Hayes. Tim is:

Level 3 NCCP certified boxing coach
First degree black belt
Over 40 years training in boxing, karate, Tae Kwon do and other martial arts
Thirty years experience coaching boxing
Former coach with Saint John Golden Gloves
Founder of KV Boxing
Founder of Hampton Golden Gloves

On July 11th we will be celebrating entering our 19th year at KV Boxing. There will be an open house with regular programs running and open to the public for anyone to try and a sparring demonstration. There will also be a BBQ, silent auction and 50/50. I am also working on possibly having a car show, that will be announced later when I have more information and would love for the public to come join us and see what KV Boxing is all about. Every child deserves to have someone in their corner. Every night I try to be that person. Every night I invest myself in the kids in my gym and I've been doing that for almost 30 years as a kid's boxing coach and almost 45 years as a former staff member with the Saint John Boys and Girls club and the YMCA. That's a long time. You would think that after that long a person would get tired of it, I never do. In fact, I am probably more passionate about it now than I ever have been. I do it because I believe I make a difference and know that because of my efforts I have changed lives. I want to continue to do that.

The hardest part of what I do is not working with the kids, it's finding the money to do it. At any given time we are sponsoring 30-40 kids. Kids who otherwise would not be able to afford to participate. I do not turn kids away for financial reasons, never have and I never will. I simply absorb the cost. I have more than once sponsored entire families. Unfortunately every year the number of kids that need help is growing. Our struggling economy is at least partially to blame for that. And in over 40 years of working with kids I've watched a steady increase in the cases of anxiety and depression in children , programs like ours are needed now more than ever

Anyone who knows me knows I do not do what I do for money. There are much easier and much less time consuming ways to make a living. I do it because I love it, I do it because nothing gives me the satisfaction of knowing I made a difference in a child's life. Nobody asked me to, I just do it.
Funding our amateur boxing program is getting increasingly difficult. Especially in our current economic climate. So I am reaching out to local companies, businesses and/or individuals to be "In your corner" for one of the many kids that need financial assistance to participate. The average cost for a child in our gym is approximately $750..00 per year. A small price to invest in a child and community. I am asking my business friends to consider doing this and to spread the word to others in the business community to consider it as well.

As a thank you any company or individual will be recognized on our social media which has almost six thousand followers, and my own personal social media which has almost thirty five hundred followers. Along with that sponsors will be given a shout-out on our website in our "In Your Corner" sponsor section and a banner on the gym wall at KV Boxing if you so choose.
