Yesterday I worked out with a friend in the morning. We got fresh air (like snowy fresh ❄️) had some great laughs and enjoyed watching her son play in his first snowfall.
Later (and in typical YYC weather fashion) all the snow had melted and the sun came out 🌞 I decided to go for a walk, because I LOVE my neighbourhood and was really into this podcast about Tonya Harding.
Both instances I was active, both times it was for me. Not in hopes that I would burn more calories or finally get closer to an ideal others have decided on.
However movement has not always been that way for me. It used to be about punishment or making up for past binges. It used to be about the goal of being skinnier, smaller. Shrinking myself to meet a goal I’d never achieve.
If your body weight NEVER changed again, would you still do the type of workouts, intensity of workouts or spend the same kind of money/ time?
It’s okay to say yes. Or to say no. Your body and how it moves is for YOU. 💛

Just a little reminder.
Try saying it out loud.
Try looking in the mirror and repeating.
Try sharing with others.
Today and always, you are beautiful

First thank you for the info graphic.
Second, I’d like to talk about white privilege. I find this an incredibly hard subject but one that I not only want to, but NEED to educate myself on further.
I did not understand this concept before the BLM movement gave me copious amounts of resources to begin learning about something that, because of my privilege, I did not know as my own truth.
It is a very hard pill to swallow, and is crucial for someone striving towards anti-racism to learn about , converse about and eventually use to help build up, support and echo voices of the BIPOC community.
So, although I cannot change my white privilege, I can:
Learn more about it and identify the privilege I hold in my life
Acknowledge it and acknowledge what it means to practice anti-racism from that place of privilege
Use it for good. I am white, I am middle class, I am university educated and speak English in a predominately English country. My skills reside within fitness, nutrition and health. How can I use all of this to aid the BIPOC community? A question I am dedicated to ask myself and answer for a community in need.
How can you use the privilege you hold for good?

Will I be hungry? Will I have to give up wine? Can I have cheese, or does it have too much fat? What about bread... should I just cut out carbs?
Just a few of the questions I get asked during a CLEAN-19 challenge consult.
They are all legitimate questions.
We’ve always been told that we need to restrict and eat less or completely cut out types of food or heck- a whole macronutrient group!
What if your goal of feeling energetic, strong and confident started with eating the foods you like?
What if over 8 weeks you could learn that you already have all the motivation, willpower and “discipline” you need.
CLEAN-19 is all about providing structure as a jumping off point- NOT about following a strict meal plan or diet. It’s about learning what foods fuel and feel best for you and what it takes to reach your goals.
The challenge begins tomorrow and I could not be more excited to have our new crew embark on this 2 month journey with! 🤸🏼♂️🤸🏻🤸🏿♀️

Jen.B - One of our CLEAN-19 participants absolutely the challenge these past 8 weeks.
She decided to take her behaviours, beliefs and routines around nutrition into her own hands.
She not only prepped, planned and ate her way to success - but she also challenged those behaviours and beliefs she held around food to becomes truly successful.
Jen lost over 6 lbs - but truly she GAINED knowledge, insight and confidence.
To Jen and the rest of the crew: I am SO proud of you!!
