Don’t miss the opening of Serendipity by Alberta artist Margriet Hogue tonight at Viewpoint Gallery from 5 to 8 p.m., admission is free!
Join us at Viewpoint Gallery tonight from 5–8 p.m. as we celebrate the opening of Serendipity, a solo exhibition by Margriet Hogue.
Serendipity reflects on the ever-changing colours and textures of nature throughout the year. Drawing on the language of double weaving, Hogue layers colour, texture, and form to evoke a sense of continuity and connection. Her work speaks to the tactile memory of weaving, where every interaction of thread contributes to a larger, cohesive whole.
Margriet Hogue is a visual artist based in central Alberta, on Treaty 6 and 7 territories and the homeland of the Métis Nation. Born in the Netherlands, she spent her formative years in Venezuela before immigrating to Canada. She studied textiles and design at Olds College and weaving at the Banff Centre for the Arts. In 1989, Hogue established a needlework business specializing in researching and reproducing antique samplers, offering workshops across North America and online. Her turn toward abstract painting was inspired by the freedom it offered from the structure and detail of her needlework and weaving background.
Everyone is welcome, and admission is free.
What: Opening Reception
Where: Viewpoint Gallery, Intermediate School Building, 5205 48 Ave
