Win Wednesday 🏆

One of my 14-year-old athletes just hit new PRs on deadlift and bench.

His secret? Daily homework. One set of deadlifts and one set of bench, every day, for 6 weeks. That’s about 30 extra sets of each, a few minutes at a time.

No crazy program. No two-hour sessions. Just small reps that actually happen, stacked up over time.

Consistency doesn’t have to be big. It has to be regular. đŸ’Ș

What’s one small thing you could do every day this week? 👇

Your fitness level is different from your partner's, your kid's, or your buddy's. That's not a reason to train alone.

Greg Glassman put it best: our needs differ by degree, not kind. We all need to push, pull, hinge, squat, and work on balance. An athlete, a busy parent, and someone in their 70s all need the same basics. What changes is how much and how hard.

So if I'm doing bodyweight pull-ups and you're not there yet, you grab a band. Same workout, same effort, and we're both working just as hard.

Train together. Scale separately. đŸ’Ș

Myth: if it’s not a full workout, it doesn’t count.

It does. A few minutes you actually do beats the perfect hour you keep putting off.

Show up for the minutes you have, consistently. And it will blow your mind where it takes you!

Every 4 to 6 weeks, we stop and check direction, not just the weights. We find out whether or not the plan is still compatible with your life!!

We look at goals, progress, consistency, and how the schedule’s actually going. It’s not just about whether or not you’re taking down goals and improving in your physical health. It’s ensuring that you have the right plan that you can continue to commit to!

Progress then isn’t just about taking down those goals. IT’S MAKING SURE THE PLAN STILL FITS YOUR LIFE!!
which then leads to taking down those goals!!

You don’t need an hour. You need a few minutes you’ll actually do.

We just gave one of our clients daily homework: one set of two or three exercises, every day.

That’s it. A little bit daily beats a lot rarely.

And it builds a weekly volume that means real progress in the gym.

Happy Thanksgiving!

The myth: If Thanksgiving weekend throws off your routine, you might as well write the week off and start fresh Monday

A fresh start sounds good, but it usually turns one off day into an off week.

You don’t have to skip the turkey dinner or the pie. Go protein first. Fill your plate with turkey before anything else, then enjoy the rest. You’ll eat well and feel better after.

You also don’t owe the missed workout, you just do the next one. If you’re travelling, a pair of dumbbells and three moves for a few rounds still counts. Or some bodyweight exercises too!

Lose the “start fresh Monday” plan.

The coolest part about making a few healthy choices and investments in yourself is who you become on the inside. A person that is conscious enough about their health to be strategic. A person that is consistent in their health investment and a person that falls through!

Last week someone missed both of their usual workouts and was ready to wait until Monday to “RESTART”.

Instead we cherry-picked their favorite movements from the two sessions and they got something in on the weekend. They loved it.

He was able to get something in. And something small means more than restarting next Monday.

And that’s the mentality we all have to take going into busy seasons
 Turkey day is upon us!!

Live in the grey. PUT AN END TO ‘RESTART’ MENTALITY!!!

Thanksgiving doesn’t need to derail everything!!

But let’s not pretend that it doesn’t change anything.

Here at the gym, we pair down to the ‘Big Rocks’ when things get crazy
and this is a crazy season

Thanksgiving preparations, travelling, kids in school, kids starting sports, the changing of seasons

And what are the ‘Big Rocks’?

The big rocks refer to the compound work you’re doing that creates and maintains full-body strength
but also, the things that light you up. The things that make you feel strong, capable, and excited to be in the gym!!

So, let’s not let this week get away on us. Let’s adjust our expectations for what we can invest!!

Let’s go get it!!

A good plan isn’t pass/fail. A good plan, accommodate different seasons in your life.

And that’s the value in having a great coach. They recognize when you’re having trouble staying with the program, they figure out the big rocks to keep, and they pair everything else down in order to stay in the game.

That’s the big lesson, you need to find a way to stay in the game. You need to not give up only to restart in January. It breaks my heart that people develop the identity of quitting and restarting.

A great coach will help you learn how to adjust the investment into yourself, keep you in the game, and keep you progressing in the long-term!
