Students move naturally, efficiently, and without unnecessary tension. This includes:

-Footwork and angling
-Falling and rolling safely
-Distance management
-Escaping from disadvantageous positions
-Boundary setting and conflict avoidance
-Survival skills and orienteering
-Remaining calm under pressure
-Awareness of surroundings
-Emotional control
-Discipline and humility
-Avoidance before confrontation
-Staff (bo, jo, hanbo)
-Wooden sword (bokken)

Rather than relying on strength or athleticism alone, the emphasis is on timing, structure, leverage, and positioning. All classes include mindfulness practices and are rooted in tradition and balancing one's life.

MIGHTY NINJAS: Martial arts for ages 4-7

These classes are focused on fun, confidence-building and the basics of rolling and tumbling. These are non-competitive classes. Our kids focus on being their best selves, goal setting and daily improvement.

Congratulations to my nephew on earning his white belt!

Starting a journey in martial arts can be intimidating. This is the beginning of a lifelong journey. It takes humility, bravery and discipline. I am so proud of my nephew and look forward to training with him.

Shoshin is the foundation of all learning. It is the "beginner's mind". It refers to having an open, empty mind, free from preconceived notions and judgments, as a true beginner would. It emphasizes the importance of approaching situations with curiosity, openness, and a willingness to learn, even at an advanced level.

Shoshin is for Budokas (martial arts practitioners) at all levels. As a white belt, it means emptying one's preconceived ideas and enjoying the process.
