Here’s to the early alarms, post-run coffees, finish line cheers, and all the kilometres shared together.

🌞πŸ”₯ Holy Parkrun PBs this morning! πŸ”₯

What a hot Saturday morning at Wascana parkrun, and apparently the warm weather brought some extra speed with it! We recorded an incredible 21 Personal Bests today. Well done!

We’d also like to give a special shoutout to everyone who reached out after our volunteer call-out post on Thursday. The response was incredible, and thanks to this amazing community, we’re now almost fully staffed with volunteers for the entire month of June! Your willingness to step up and help is one of the many things that makes our parkrun so special.

Whether you ran, walked, volunteered, cheered, or joined us for the first time, thank you for being part of another fantastic Saturday morning. See you next week! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ˜€οΈπŸ’™

🌟 Milestone Mentions 🌟

We have another inspirational milestone!

Kerri has reached 50 parkruns!!!

Kerri heard about Parkrun from her cousin, signed up, but never got around to attending. Finally, on December 31, 2019 she made it to her first Parkrun!

In the beginning, she was really only interested in completing 5km. Slowly, she started to branch out and upped her mileage to 10kms. Before she knew it, she had completed a number of half and full marathons, and even the Canada Goose Ultra and Lost Our Marbles runs!

When visiting Ottawa, Kerri attended the Kanata parkrun. When they found out she was from Regina, their response was, β€œOh, you are the speedy Parkrun!” 😜 Though Kerri wouldn’t say she’s speedy (we beg to differ), with the help of her run coach, she is getting faster πŸ™ŒπŸ».

You will always see Kerri volunteering for many of the local races in and around Regina followed by completing those same races virtually! Coming up next, Kerri is going to push herself to see how far she can get at the Canada Goose Ultra 24-hour race.

Let’s cheer her on this milestone

🌟 Milestone Mentions 🌟

High-fives all around for this beauty! 25 parkruns and going strong!

In 2021, Bree decided to make a healthy lifestyle change as the impacts of Covid were starting to weigh on her. Five years later, running continues to have a positive impact on her life β€” giving her fresh air, movement, goals to chase, opportunities to challenge herself, and a healthy way to manage stress.

So far this year, she completed the 10K at the Gopher Attack Race in April, is heading to the Sask Marathon in Saskatoon for the Half Marathon at the end of May, and will take on her very first Full Marathon in Iceland this August!

Running has become more than just exercise for Bree β€” it’s improved her quality of life and opened the door to so many exciting adventures.

We can’t wait to see where the journey takes her next. πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

πŸ˜„πŸš¨ Volunteers needed! 🚨 πŸ˜„

Did you know that Wascana Parkrun is 100% volunteer ran? It’s all made possible thanks to amazing people, like you, in our very own community!

⭐️As we head into June, we’re looking for volunteers for future events starting the week of June 6th! ⭐️

Whether you’re a regular runner, walker, spectator, or someone curious about getting involved in the community, volunteering is a fantastic way to be part of the fun. πŸ™Œ

No experience is needed at all. Every role is simple, and there’s always plenty of support and guidance provided by our amazing volunteer team. From tail walking to scanning barcodes or helping set up, there’s something for everyone.

If you’d like to help out at an upcoming event, send us a message on FB, or email us at [email protected]. We’d love to have you on the team! πŸ’™

Side note: Did you also know that tailwalking counts as both a volunteer credit and running credit? 🀫 😬

Side side note: There’s also some pretty cool volunteer milestones and swag to earn πŸ˜‰

🌳 Wascana Parkrun #257🌳

No snow, no wind 🀯, no debating whether trail shoes count as waterproof anymore. Just sunshine and the kind of weather we’ve been talking about since February. What a perfect morning at Wascana Parkrun!

It was fantastic to see such a great crowd out today and sooo many PBs 😳 well done! Whether you were running, jogging, walking, volunteering, or just here for the post-run coffee and socializing, we’re glad you came.

A huge thank you, as always, to our volunteers. Parkrun only happens because of the amazing people giving their time each week. If you’ve never volunteered before, we’d love to have you join the roster sometime this season! No experience needed, plenty of support provided, and guaranteed to leave you with that β€œfeel good” feeling all weekend πŸ˜€
