The Why

Why “start” this undertaking now? Why get into what can be a gruelling and competitive business? Why risk it? My why is because I have something not a lot of people out there in the fitness industry have: the experience of having it all, then losing it all and having to battle back. Let’s rewind... in 2015 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I am proud to say that I am a survivor. I found difficulty finding support groups/people and exercise therapies that were my style, that motivated me. If they were out there I could not find them, I was flying solo. Long story short, I saw a gap in the system to help people not only live healthy lifestyles but to help them recover from what can be a devastating, debilitating illness. I was an athlete, in what was the best shape of my life (minus the years where I never really had to work for it) and I gained 50lbs and lost 75% of my strength due to chemotherapy. I also have ongoing muscular issues from radiation (think about popcorn in the microwave). There were lots of new things to learn about how my body works, to regain strength, to get my body to work again the way I wanted it to. I have this experience to share with those recovering, and to spread the word of great appreciation for what you have to those who have never been faced with recovery. For me, every day was a new day, and everyday continues to be a new day. I am not afraid of starting over, hitting the reset button or setting new goals when I achieve one. Had I started this adventure 20 years ago, I would not have been able to have the impact and the profound appreciation for fitness and health that I have now. I want to help anyone who has been in a a similar situation, those who want to get healthy, and those working towards athletic achievements.
