04.21.2019 Easter is a celebration with family and friends. Instead of egg hunting and basket painting, CJBA and KCBC hosted a not-so-traditional celebration of BADMINTON at the brand new KW campus with 150 local badminton enthusiasts, to support our top Canadian athletes on their quest for a spot in the 2020 Olympics Games. Together, we raised $2000 from your support. GO Brittney, Nyl, Joshua and Antonio. Good luck this week at the pan am games in Mexico. GO K.C Badminton Club and K.C Badminton Kitchener-Waterloo Campus as you produce more top medal contenders for the years to come. A heart felt thank-you to all our supporters, volunteers, and CJBA ambassadors. Without your commitment and volunteerism, this event would not have been so successful.
Thank you to Yonex Canada for the grand prize and MAX SPORTS for the shuttlecocks.

Badminton was officially included in the Olympics program in the 1992 Games in Barcelona. Canada has been sending our top atheletes to all but 1 Olympics games since 1992, with most notable result at 2012 London Games with Michelle Li and Alex Bruce finishing just off the podium in fourth place in Women’s Doubles. Our new generation of atheletes are starting their qualification games in May 2019 to earn their seat at the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
Canadian Junior Badminton Association (CJBA) is a registered Not-For-Profit organization. It has been operating since 2017. CJBA’s vision is to promote badminton in Canada, to make badminton one of Canada’s most popular sports, and to support Canadian badminton athletes so that they can consistenly earn medal at international events.
The KC Badminton Club (KCBC) was established in early 2011 by Kevin Cao, a former Chinese national badminton team member, with many national and interational titles in his competition years. KCBC is now one of the largest badminton clubs in the GTA region. Badminton has historically had a strong root in Kitchener-Waterloo and the surrounding areas. Today, we still have top national junior players in the region and many future stars with high potential. KCBC expanded to the KW area in March 2019 to bring the highest level of training to this region. KCBC has been a generous sponsor for top Canadian players as well as CJBA. As part of its grand finale of the KW campus opening, KCBC is offering its brand new facility to help raise community awareness and involvement of the event.
On April 21st, CJBA is excited to work with KCBC to host anExhibition Game event with our Canadian national players, international players, and top Canadian juniors. We not only hope to bring the highest level of game play to the region, but also to get your support to send them to more qualifying tournaments for their road to 2020 qualification. Your presence is kindly requested to open the Exhibition Game at 5:30 pm on April 21 2019 at the KCBC KW Campus at 265 Breithaupt Street. Looking forward to working together to be an integral part of the KW community.
