A depth drop works on eccentric force production, which usually people say 'absorbing force'.

While the term absorbing is not accurate, it is important to train the body to be able to produce such force in such positions to make it robust.

Believe it or not, body will become more efficient, and force transfer will be crazy when you go to jump.
