Since 2018, we have been building a community. Rooted in 1,500 years of Shaolin heritage, we continue to move forward with discipline, unity, and purpose.

As we welcome the Lunar New Year and enter the Year of the Horse, we are reminded of the spirit it represents, strength, endurance, momentum, and the courage to keep moving forward. We step into this new year with renewed energy, greater focus, and a clear sense of direction.

Shaolin Temple of Canada – 2nd Annual Summer Picnic

On August 31, 2025, nearly 140 people came together at UU Family Farm in Richmond for Shaolin Temple of Canada’s 2nd Annual Summer Picnic. From infants to elders, it was a truly inclusive, multigenerational celebration of community and connection.

There were no vendors or catering—just our community sharing homemade dishes from many cultures. The highlight of the day was a playful Kung Fu competition where young students taught their parents basic moves, with Masters Yandi and Yanyan (and their children) as judges. Laughter, joy, and bonding filled the day.

Thank you to the parents, adult students, families, friends, and volunteers who made this event possible. The picnic showed the strength and heart of our Shaolin community, and this is only the beginning. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year—and invite new friends to join us as our Shaolin community continues to grow and thrive!

加拿大少林寺 – 第二届夏日同乐野餐会

2025年8月31日，加拿大少林寺在列治文的UU农场举办了第二届夏日野餐会，近140人齐聚一堂。从婴儿到长者，这是一次真正包容性的多代同乐社区庆典。

没有商贩和餐饮，只有我们的社区成员带来自制的各式佳肴，汇聚多元文化的美味。当天的亮点是一场趣味功夫比赛，小弟子们亲自教父母学习基本动作，由延荻法师、延衍师父和他们的孩子担任评委，现场充满了欢笑、喜悦与凝聚力。

感谢所有家长、成年学员、家庭、朋友和义工的付出，让活动得以成功举办。这次野餐会展示了少林社区的力量与温暖，而这仅仅是开始。我们期待明年与大家再次相聚，并热情欢迎新的朋友加入，让我们的少林社区不断成长、持续兴旺！

On May 5, 2025, Shaolin Temple of Canada, led by Master Shi Yandi and Master Shi Yanyan, was deeply honoured to be invited to the BC Legislative Assembly to perform and take part in the 3rd Annual BC Buddhist Culture Day—the first official proclamation of its kind by any government in North America.

This historic moment stands as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through compassion, unity, and the collective goodwill of both Buddhist and non-Buddhist communities.

Over 130 students, families, and friends travelled to Victoria, BC to join in this celebration. The day began with inspiring remarks from The Honourable Teresa Wat, The Honourable John Rustad, and The Honourable Paul Choi.

It concluded with closing remarks by Master Shi Yandi, who shared reflections on the spirit of Shaolin culture, the compassion and hopes of Buddhism, and ended with a heartfelt Prayer for Peace.

Our students delivered an unforgettable Shaolin Kung Fu performance in the Hall of Honour, witnessed by a packed crowd—including MLAs and special guests. The event concluded with a breathtaking finale by Master Shi Yanyan, demonstrating the precision, discipline, and essence of Shaolin.

After the performance, we were invited into the Legislative Gallery to witness the official announcement—a profound and memorable honour.

2025年5月5日，在释延荻法师与释延衍师父的带领下，加拿大少林寺非常荣幸应邀前往卑诗省立法议会，参与并表演于第三届卑诗省佛教文化日的庆典活动。这是北美历史上第一个由政府正式宣布的佛教文化日，具有深远意义。

这一历史性时刻，是慈悲、团结以及佛教与非佛教社区共同善意努力的结晶，充分展现了多元文化的融合与力量。

当天，超过130位学生、家人及朋友一同前往卑诗省省会维多利亚市参与这场重要盛会。庆典由The Honourable Teresa Wat、John Rustad议员及Paul Choi议员发表鼓舞人心的开幕致辞拉开帷幕。

活动最后由释延荻法师发表闭幕致辞，分享了少林文化的精神与佛教的慈悲与愿景，并以一段祈愿世界和平的佛教祷文作结，令人动容。

加拿大少林寺的学生们在荣誉大厅呈献了一场令人难忘的少林功夫表演，观众包括卑诗省立法会议员及多位来宾，现场气氛热烈。演出以释延衍师父精彩震撼的压轴演出划上完美句号，展现了少林功夫的精准、纪律与精神内涵。

演出结束后，我们受邀进入立法议会观礼厅，亲眼见证这一官方宣布的历史性时刻，倍感荣幸，难以忘怀。

On April 12, 2025, Shaolin Temple of Canada warmly welcomed a group of high school students from North Carolina as part of a cultural exchange visit.

Led by a shared curiosity and respect for different traditions, the students came to learn about Chinese culture and the spirit of Shaolin. Master Shi Yandi and Master Shi Yanyan personally greeted them, offering an introduction to the 1,500-year history of the Shaolin Temple and its deep roots in Chan Buddhism and martial arts.

The students also participated in an immersive Kung Fu experience, discovering the discipline, mindfulness, and philosophy behind the physical practice.

Moments like these serve as powerful bridges between cultures. Through meaningful exchanges, we nurture understanding, respect, and friendship among young people across borders. These connections are essential in building a more harmonious and compassionate global community—guided by the next generation.

On February 9, 2025, Shaolin Temple of Canada had the honour of performing at Metrotown/Metropolis Centre in Burnaby, BC, as part of our annual Lunar New Year celebration. The captivating showcase featured an impressive range of Shaolin Kung Fu routines, with talented students as young as five demonstrating their skill in various techniques and forms. The event culminated in a breathtaking grand finale led by Master Shi Yanyan, bringing the performance to a powerful close, all under the expert guidance of our esteemed Head Master, Master Shi Yandi.

Yesterday (February 2, 2025), Shaolin Temple of Canada was honoured to take part in the historic 51st Chinatown New Year Parade in Vancouver!

Despite the heavy snowfall and chilly weather, an inspiring group of our dedicated students, family, and friends gathered to take part in this special event, fully embodying the true Shaolin spirit of discipline, resilience, and unstoppable energy. Under the leadership of Master Yandi and Master Yanyan, who guided the procession with their unwavering presence and strength, we were able to share the Shaolin spirit with the community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in person, as well as those who supported us in spirit. Your unwavering presence and boundless energy made this event truly unforgettable and exceptional!
