Skater Spotlight: Sylvia

This is Sylvia's second time competing at the Games. She is looking forward to the 1000 meters as it has been a strong distance for her all season. She is most excited for the weekend of competition and sportsmanship. Her goals are to have fun and clock some PBs (personal bests).

Skater Spotlight: Logan

This is Logan's second time competing at the Games. He is looking forward to the 1000 meters as it has been one of his best distances this season as well as all the experiences the Games has to offer, specifically the opening ceremonies. He has his sights on skating sub-50 seconds for his 500 meter race.

Skater Spotlight: Russell

This is Russell's first time competing at the Games. He is looking forward to skating with the top skaters from all over Alberta. He is excited for the 400 because it is usually one of his best races. His goals are to have fun and stay up and race hard.

Skater Spotlight: Brock

This is Brock's first time competing at the Games. He is excited for the swag, the opening ceremonies, and hanging out with other speed skaters. He is looking forward to the 400 and 800 meter races and has the goal of cutting one or two seconds off his times for both distances and to race quickly and strategically.

This is Caroline's first time competing at the Games. She is looking forward to the swag, the experience, and meeting new people from different sports. Her goal is to skate clean and hard in every race.

Skater Spotlight: Grace

This is Grace's second time competing at the Games. In terms of the competition she is looking forward to the longer races, like the 1500, because she thrives at the long distances. She is looking forward to the opening ceremonies and spending time with other athletes. One of her goals is to get PBs (personal bests) in all her races and specifically in the 500 meter.

Skater Spotlight: Campbell

Campbell is our Zone 4 athlete from Red Deer who skates with our sister club the Red Deer Lions Speed Skating Club. This will be her first time attending the Games and she is looking forward to taking in the whole experience, specifically to meet some new friends in her favourite sport. She is pumped for the 400 meter races because she is very strong in the sprint distances. Her ultimate goal would be to make it onto the podium.
